Hm, I think he is missing the point.
https://www.slashfilm.com/chopping-mall-remake/ My version of CHOPPING MALL that I wrote is totally supernatural…It’s more The Fog set in an abandoned mall than it is robots. Instead of killer robots, they are these mannequins that are possessed by the souls of dead slaves that worked at the plantation that the mall was built over.” |

There is a similar story in Tales from the Hood, it was a plantation house instead of a mall.

Mannequins could be interesting, robots aren't as big as they were in 85/86

Ditching robots for ghosts? That tells me that instead of a remake, someone just wants to make a horror movie set in a shopping mall, and likes the "Chopping Mall" title.

This IS NOT happening. Jim Wynorski is still part owner of this film and has not been contacted. And It doesn't sound like he'd sell anyway. He doesn't sound fond of the idea, either.

For me personally, Chopping Mall is not a good movie (not even worthy of cult status) so this is a great choice to get the remake treatment. But mannequins? Why not remake Mannequin into a horror movie instead.

The mannequin idea for a "Chopping Mall" remake is a dumb idea. Mannequins are not articulated - the neck, arms, legs and hands don't bend. How can a "possessed" mannequin chase anyone around a mall?
It would be much better if the ghosts possessed some of the actual people in the mall and went on a killing spree, but that idea has been done to death (pun intended). |

Just saying, if you're going into a horror film about killer mannequin's, you should probably suspend some kind of disbelief ![]() |
