Amazon order from Germany

Ordering on Amazon.de and total came to $149 for 11 movies which is fine. But shipping is $56! Only option that comes up is expedited. Any help on how to lower cost of shipping? I am in USA. Thanks.

International shipping is not cheap, especially now.

5 Euro per item to cross the Atlantic is about what I'd expect, to be honest.

Do you also have to pay taxes when you import to the states? If not, maybe you can feel better about the shipping costs after all. I‘m currently shaping my February import order from amazon.com to 20 titles. Currently the 20 titles combined are 520$. Shipping Costs is 70$. Import Fees are 110$. So shipping and fees are almost always 30% on top of every import for me now in Germany. Also the $ became much stronger and is almost on the same level as the € now.

I have no idea if I have to pay import fees. Have never ordered from overseas before? Hopefully someone can let me know.

Maybe I can buy for you and you buy for me. Has to be cheaper right?!

Sadly the German Customs almost always are checking bigger packages (I always order one bigger monthly order; otherwise the shipping costs would be even higher. Sometimes I buy some oop single BDs on eBay from the US and the shipping costs for a single item are 15-20$ currently) and I still would have to pay full customs and go to the local custom office which is always very timeconsuming. At least Amazon handles all of this stuff upfront and I get my order delivered directly to me without any further hassle. But it’s getting more and more expensive, year by year. That’s for sure…

I ordered from Amazon.de to the states recently and I had the cheaper option vs expedited. Pretty sure everything comes DHL to the states. Took me about 3 weeks to receive it.

Not sure why i would only have expedited. i signed in with my usa account info.

I just generated a random order to see what it showed for me. *Shipping to the States.


The default is "expedited" but they also have the priority option for more money. It sounds like expedited is the only option for your particular order and there is no "economy" shipping option, so you're stuck with expedited. However, expedited is not considered priority from their perspective.

so far you can order something from amazon to Switzerland as Switzerland is basicly blocked by amazon.
