Default Columbia House: How long do you think it will be before they start selling Blus

As I used to me a member, I still get mail from them from time to time offering me lots of cheap DVDs if I sign up again. I've been tempted to write them and tell them to stop sending me anything until they start selling Blu, but I figured it wouldn't do much.

Which leads me to my question. How long do you think it will be before they start selling Blu-rays?

My best guess would be summer 2009. What do you think?

And does anyone know how long it took before they started selling DVDs?

Yeah, it is on their site. You can purchase them towards your commitment.

My guess, 6 months ago.

I've bought several Blu-Rays from Columbia House last few month, mainly to fullfill my older membership.

They Sell HD-DVD and Combos also, FYI.

Unless your talking making BDs for enrollment. That might take awhile.

wow - sorry guys. The flyers they send me don't advertise this at all, but in checking their website, it appears that you can buy blus.

This thread can be deleted if the Mods want

I sort of meant Blus for enrollement though, as that's the only way I'd go back.

EDIT - upon further checking, it appears that their pormotions don't apply to Blu-ray yet. I found out I can still login to my old account and they are running a Unlimited DVDs at 50% off when you buy one at $19.95 or higher promotion, but when I add 2 Blus, the second doesn't discount.

So although they sell them, they are pretty useless for Blus.

It does suck that you can't apply the free and %50 sales on BDs.

But you can use them as the first purchuse and get another one free.

I currently have 2 memberships, one for the TV on DVD club and one regular. Both are over a year old since I basically stopped buying DVDs last year.

What I've been doing is get one BD and take another DVD free to get my commitments out of the way. Typiclly use the DVDs as gifts or get Paramount/Dreamworks or Universal titles on DVD.

I currently have Harry Potter: Order of the Pheonix on BD and getting Children of Men free on the way for $29 shipped. That takes care of one membership.
