Default Best slasher remake?

Which was the best remake of the 70's/80's slasher films?

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003)

Halloween (2007)

Friday the 13th (2009)

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

As for me, TCM 2003, easily. It's the only tolerable of the bunch.

TCM is fantastic and still the best of the modern slasher remakes. The other three are dreadful.

Halloween.

Though I will say TCM had the better soundtrack:

Pantera's Immortally Insane is a banger.

Friday The 13th (2009) is maybe the only slasher remake I enjoy. It feels like a Friday The 13th film.

Friday the 13th I really enjoyed that one. I have seen both Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street and that was one big insult to the classic original.

LOL, yeah it was much nicer when he only butchered children.

Apparently not everybody agrees he was a kiddie killer, though:

Of course, the bladed glove found in his boiler room and confession in FvJ kinda throws that theory out the window.

But yeah, the remake definitely butchered his character. Not even Jackie Earle Haley could save it.

I voted for Rob Zombie's Halloween because, out of the four, it was the only movie in which I didn't want to get up and throw an object at the TV (not saying much, I still thought it was merely passable). God I hated those other ones, especially Texas Chainsaw Massacre (but, as others here seem to enjoy it, I'll admit that I have several friends that also seem to like it quite a bit)...and Friday the 13th had a pretty solid opening, but the acting for the rest of the movie was horrible, especially the one character who has a sex scene and actually says something like...

[Show spoiler]"You've got great nipple placement, baby!"

Who the f**k says that?

The Friday the 13th remake felt like The Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake to me, which comes to no surprise since they are both from the same director. I would have voted for the My Bloody Valentine remake. It had more old school feeling than most of the other slasher remakes listed.

Halloween - 6/10
TCM - meh/10
Nightmare on Elm Street - 1/10
Friday the 13th - 1/10 (personally think is way way worse than the Nightmare remake)

That was actually Wes Craven's original plan for Freddy, but New Line didn't like the idea of having the main character of the franchise being a pedo.

Wow, one of the only times I actually side with the studio over the director SMFH. What were Wes and Platinum Dunes thinking?

Oh right, forgot about that one, shit. I was thinking "who are the 4 slasher icons who got a remake?" when making this.
