Does anyone know if ps3 supports .MKV files?

no it dosent

i sent sony a letter asking for suport becuse its the codecs which i use to make videos put i would just use a converter a program called river past is as essie as its gets

Let's get the language right here....mkv is not a codec, it is a container for video and audio, much the same as avi.

To answer the question, the Playstation 3 does not support playback of mkv files of any codec...this in spite of the recent addition of XviD/DivX/WMV support.
