As usual, take with a healthy grain of salt, but if you have your eye on the Japanese BD box (currently over £140 before shipping and not English-friendly), you may want to wait...

The screengrabs of the Japanese BD release compared to the DVD certainly look good and HD audio is always a good thing.

Why take it with a grain of salt. It's a new company announcing that they acquired the rights and will put it out on BD. There is no sort of a rumor here.

Finally! We don't get too many older series on BD over here, Bebop seems like a no brainer though. Lotsa' money to be made.

I never said it was a rumor, but at the same time, online announcements (especially those from new companies) can be retracted and releases can be delayed or cancelled. I usually don't post these kinds of preliminary announcements, but given the series' popularity, and the enticement of the Japanese box set, I thought it was worth posting now to save any importers the disappointment of shelling out for the Japanese release, only to find that an English-friendly one is forthcoming.

I've always put off on picking up the movie because I wanted to see the show first. Bring it on, hope it's a good one!

Funny, I've had the DVD 'Remix' box set for a number of years now, but I've only ever seen the movie lol

Anime releases in the U.K. are almost always region locked. I think the U.S. will get it eventually, though, seeing as how the show was more popular in America than it was in Japan. Probably not until the Japanese BD has been out for a bit.

i think i read somewhere they get regionlocked to force out japanese fans importing them, the american and japanese region for blu-ray is the same that's why you see sometimes blu-ray releases only with english audio but the dvd release has english and japanese audio

Artwork doesn't particularly appeal (a series like this, there's so many great images to choose from), but despite it's inconstancies, I'm still excited for this one.

I agree. Though they've updated the artwork since, they just haven't shown what it looks like yet.

I sure hope they don't release this dubbed only.

EDIT: Phew:

The Cowboy Bebop Collector's Edition Part 1 is currently listed as a two-disc Blu-Ray set retailing at £29.99, and with a release date set for July 29th 2013 - this first of two volumes will comprise of two Blu-Rays with English and Japanese audio with English subtitles, packaged in a limited edition slipcase and with bonus content including a forty-page booklet and extras never previously before seen in the UK such as "Ein's Summer Holiday".

Cowboy Bebop is the best anime ever created in my opinion. You wont be disappointed!

Chronologically the movie takes place between Episode 22 and 23, but you could also just watch it after the series. (Since it was made after the series ended) It's what you'd call a "filler movie" but it's still an excellent film. Hopefully Anime Ltd will pick it up for Blu Ray!!
