Ready to jump to a 4K Projector. Need Recomendations...

Short Throw Projection

3D capability (very important)

My budget is $3,500 to $4000 (at the most)

Can skip the LG. No 3D on that one. For 3D, the P1 would be preferable.

Epson LS500 has the best 3D of any projector both traditional and UST.

I use to have the Optoma P2 and the 3D was terrible. The 3D on the Epson LS500 rivals any 3D TV. The only downside is because it’s active 3D, there wii still be a hint of crosstalk on the same content that gives active 3D TVs trouble.

I’d recommend the Epson LS500 as well. It seems to handle HDR content better (and allows you to adjust the HDR to get better performance), contrast is a little better as well compared to the Optoma as well, and it is the brighter 3D projector to handle more ambient light compared to the others.

Entry level native 4K projectors start at $5,500 and support Blu-ray 3D. Dolby Vision HDR projectors are on commercial projectors starting at $85,000+.
If your budget could be raised to $5,500 this is a good projector to use for the next 5 to 10 years.

I'm not sure why anyone on this forum hasn't mentioned this, but the Optoma Cinemax PRO checks all off your list (except for DolbyVision, but it does have HDR 10).

I've seen tons of mentions about the P1 and P2, but maybe the PRO is too new? Whatever the case, I've had mine for about a month now and everyone is shocked at the picture clarity and brightness even when there's ambient light present. There have been some upgrades since the P2 in brightness, contrast ratio and input lag and there's virtually no crosstalk when watching 3D. Here's a site that compares specs to the P2.

There are some indications that JVC may be bringing three new native 4K laser projectors to market -- basically next-gen versions of their current line (NX5, NX7, NX9). I don't think this has been 100% confirmed yet, but I am watching close.

I am watching this closely too! Cedia should be interesting. Although I fear the USD price (if converted from the Euro number mentioned) would put these out of my price range. However, the person reporting this is reputable and has been correct in the past on other upcoming announcements. If the NX7 becomes the new entry level DLA at ~$6,000, I may just upgrade to that one. We'll see.

So far only JVC and Sony offer true native 4K resolution projectors for consumers that are LCOS technology. All the consumer DLP projectors, LCD projectors, and all other projector technologies in 2021 are still using 1080P light engines with pixel shifting technology to simulate 4K resolution. Maybe one day some of the commercial native 4K DLP projectors with Dolby Vision HDR might offer consumer 4K models.

But if I was in the market for a 4K native projector, I would most likely buy a Sony or JVC projector that is laser based instead of light bulb based.
Glad to here the projector market is still going. For the main home theater room one should own a ceiling mounted projector. However for the bedroom, apartments, and condo’s there needs to be more short throw projectors on the market so consumers can replace their flat panel OLED screen with a short thrown projector that sits a few inches away from the wall on the existing flat panel TV stand.

For now ^ that's true as JVC is sold out of the NX5, NX7 and NX9 native 4K HDR projectors.

I think the latest release of lghu915qe is native 4k projector with throw distance of just 3 feet away.
