He really is a fantastic composer. Even the films that he scored that I really don't care for have great music and you can just put the CD on an get lost. I think I would only rate Morricone's western scores as better.

I really dislike most current scores. I am a big Nine Inch Nails fan but Reznor and Ross' soundtracks are so boring. And then you have Zimmer who sounds like he fell asleep face down on his keyboard and someone recorded it.

John Williams has cited Erich Wolfgang Korngold as a major influence on his music. People should check out some of Korngold's scores.

I would have agreed with you if you'd been realistic like literally 10,000 times better but no I can't go with 20,000.

The man is a legend for sure and since Barry, Goldsmith, and Horner passed yeah he probably is the best living composer.

Talk about a life well lived (so far)! No doubt that his work will basically be remembered forever and rightly so. On top of all that he's still incredibly modest to boot with all his extraordinary talent. What a wonderful man. The world has been so fortunate and blessed to have him for as long as we have had the honor. I bet there aren't many movie or music fans in modern film history that he hasn't had his music make a sweet memory for. God bless him.

John Williams is the greatest living composer, perhaps the best of all time. I'm so glad he has shared his gifts with us all.

Greatest living probably, but greatest of all time might have been Morricone.

Just the scores from Superman and Jaws/Jaws 2 alone land him in the top 5. Magnificent talent.
