Chrono Trigger HD 2D Remake Rumor

Well now we have a Chrono Trigger HD 2D remake rumor for Switch. Not sure if it will be a Switch exclusive or just a timed exclusive.

Would love to play this game again, the original is the best in the series for me. I like HD 2D and I bet this would look great, but the look of the original is so good so hopefully there is an option to switch between old pixels and new.

I really hope this is true. Love the idea of Square putting out 2D remake of classic games. I was really excited when the 2D remake of Dragon Quest III was announced. Even more excited a 2D remake of Chrono Trigger.

Can't wait for SE to only offer a western release on their website at 2am in the morning once like they did with the Pixel Remasters. I ended up getting that in the first batch at Play Asia but I can see this happening again.

Speaking of…where the heck is any update on that? Its been two years since the reveal.

It will be fascinating to see what may be planned for this project.

Square Enix could re-issue the game (untouched) with the original instruction booklet and it would sell well.

the graphics held up well imo, I'd take a straight upscaled port over HD 2D

The source of this is Zippo, who sadly doesn't have the best track record. So take it with a grain of salt.

That said, it would be a dream come true if it were real. There's a Direct tomorrow, with a remake of a SNES game being rumored, so we'll find out soon enough.

I hope it’s either Earthbound, Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, Fire Emblem Genealogy of Holy War or of a main first party Nintendo title from SNES era.

Super Mario RPG and Chrono Trigger are the main ones being hinted at so far. We'll see!

I would really love to see Chrono Trigger on the Switch. Even a direct port would do me fine, just as long as they do something with it.

Well, Super Mario RPG was just confirmed at the Direct. CT is looking less likely now.
