oh damn yes! about time! this never even got a blu-ray (I mean it did but it was a badly upscaled DVD in reality) despite being one of the bigger classics of the 80s

but oh damn Paramount so will they go all Greasy DNR/To Catch A Thief over 80% of it or give us a miracle where it is a not terribly done Ferris or Pretty In Pink (I take it for granted a truly top level release with fully naturally acting grain field and all is not possible from Paramount)???

It's already on iTunes in 4K. I think it's been there since summer.

Hopefully this is a good disc! I enjoy this movie but have avoided the blu-ray all this time. Hopefully this is more like Ferris Bueller or Beverly Hills Cop and less like Planes, Trains, and Automobiles !

That blu-ray was practically unwatchable. If Paramount manages to not screw this one up, the improvements will be night and day drastic.

Yeah the BD is absolute shit (and was shit even for its time) so it's nice to see Paramount finally upgrading it. Hopefully they don't bork the encode.

Yep and there is a 4K DCP too. It was obvious this was going to be released in 2024 because Paramount loves their anniversaries. I think we will also see Mean Girls, Chinatown, and White Christmas next year. And maybe Sabrina if we are lucky

The 4k streaming version is just ok so I don't expect much from this release. I know the disc will have a better encode/compression but the streaming version has the same paramount grain management going on with so many of their catalogue releases.
