This show was M-A-D-E for UHD-BD. With a native 4K source gleamed from cinema-grade LF cameras and what will likely be cinema-grade Dolby Atmos audio, it should be reference-grade demo material in the war scenes. The real question is how good the show looks with HDR, dynamic or otherwise.

On a personal note, my greatest ‘4K experience’ so far has been watching the entire GoT series in 4K - my first time ever watching the series.

It was glorious.

I watched the series on an LG C9. My previous tv was a crt from the early 1990s, so you can probably imagine the look on my face while I watched this show.

Second season is a go which isn't surprising to me. I'm hopeful that it will get a good 4-5 seasons and we work our way up to to the Mad King and Robert's rebellion.

With that being said...I'll be purchasing season 1 as well.

I thought about waiting for the complete series but then I remembered that a complete series box set might contain stacked discs, so I'm getting it season by season.

That could be a bit of a wait! I'm 72, so don't do waiting. It's the 4K for me, & The Wheel Of Time Blu-ray & hopefully a 4K Ring Of Power.

Seeing as House of the Dragon takes places 200 years before that I really wouldn't be getting your hopes up.

It's technically 172 but yeah I see your point. Anything is possible and it's best to go in with limited expectations to avoid getting your hopes up which is exactly what I've been doing.

I just feel if they don't include it at some point (that could also include an entirely new spinoff series), that it will be a missed opportunity to bring certain characters back during their younger days.

Nitpicking time: 172 years only refers to before the birth of Daenerys, not the beginning of GOT (where she is like 16-18) so technically this series starts 188-190 years before the first episode of GOT

I’ll put this other stuff behind a spoiler tag in case it’s considered to be one (although this is generally available and already revealed information from critic reviews, previews, etc), but:
[Show spoiler]they’ve already stated this series will have many time jumps, including in the 6th episode of this season with a significant time leap forward and older versions/recastings of some major characters like Princess Rhaenyra and Alicent…so who knows how far they can take this show as it goes along, I’m sure if it remains successful they’ll try and keep it going, hopefully not run it into the ground though….

There's plenty more of the season to go but so far I'm not impressed. Hopefully it gets better but I'm amazed at how many are all in. I'd like to know those that are, complained about got s6-7....
