Default Transformers (Animated)

https://screencrush.com/animated-tra...e-josh-cooley/

Deadline reports that Paramount and Hasbro are pushing ahead with a new animated Transformers movie, the first for the big-screen since the 1980s. The new film will reportedly be an “origin story” set on Cybertron, and focus on the relationship between Optimus Prime and Megatron.

The studio even has an Oscar-winning director working on the project — Josh Cooley, who recently wrapped directing (and getting an Academy Award for) Toy Story 4. Cooley is reportedly “overseeing a final draft with the writers now.” Those writers would be Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari, who worked on both Ant-Man films for Marvel.

If it’s like the beginning of Bumblebee it should be pretty cool.

I hope they stick with the original designs but since its set in Cybertron I could see them giving it a more futuristic design especially in their vehicle forms

For Transformers the Movie from the 80s, animated, the drawings are great as hoped, but the animation is no better than the TV series most of the film, with the exception of more characters onscreen at one time and more shading. It seems like they rushed through the project with a minimal budget. Or spent most of the budget on guest star voices like Nemoy.

For the story, I'm a big fan of Generation 1 seasons 1 and 2 classic, but they absolutely have a disrespect for how tough the Autobots have been throughout those first 2 seasons, because the writers in the film quickly
[Show spoiler]killed them off in standard laser fights, destroying the best heroes to replace them with the new toys for the shelves, is the angle I bet they were going for. Those shots would normally not kill an Autobot or even Decepticon. Not good, make them go through a major blast where the ship is engulfed in flames or something.
Not a simple laser blast. That's my main criticism of the film despite its good points.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will be released theatrically in 2023 and is the first of three new installments. A new animated series from @Nickelodeon arrives this fall. And in 2024, the franchise expands further with a CG animated Transformers theatrical film. #ParamountPlus pic.twitter.com/4FKsliX2Hp

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will release theatrically on June 9, 2023, a date that was already known. However, it will be the first of three in a planned trilogy. Paramount, however, did not speak about these other two installments.
Hopefully it's decent. Looks like they're going all CGI style.

The visual style and character design can also make a huge difference for any upcoming Transformers series or animated film.
The classic series and classic The Movie style were the best IMO, well drawn and not trying to be too fancy or slick.

There is one animated series that looks so awful in terms of design style, called "Transformers Animated", I don't even want to see what it's about. The characters are way too exaggerated with the lines IMO. They totally missed the point of robots. Not a fan at all of that over-exaggeration for robots. The art is there, but not right for Transformers at all.

Animated literally has the best Starscream

Prime has the best Megatron though.

I grew up with this series, where the drawing style is more traditional and not exaggerated. The animation is a bit rough to be honest, but works for a daily series.

I didn't grow up with that show, so I can understand why there are fans who will defend that "Transformers Animated" Series very exaggerated art style and show as important to their experience with the Transformers franchise.
As a long time fan since the beginning, it's such a departure of the style I would expect for Transformers, so if it's a good show and you enjoy it, that's understandable.

Finally watching a clip, I now see they are going for an intentionally humorous approach to the show, which could explain that show's exaggerated style in Transformers Animated.

I see the newer series, Bumble Cyberverse Adventures is also exaggerated in style, though great animation with the CGI.

Transformers: Robots In Disguise also has an exaggerated style with intentional humor.

I see they definitely got his voice right, in the traditional style of the original show. That definitely helps IMO. Good animation.

I love TF:Animated. Considering the last couple of shows before it was CGI anime that looked exactly like the toys (not a compliment), the stylized design was a step up.

I only saw the first season of the 2015 RID show, but haven't seen a Transformers series since outside of the Netflix WFC, which was mostly terrible until the third season.

The first half hour of the original animated TF movie remains to this day the best 30 minutes of cinema that franchise has ever produced.

The Bumblebee movie intro was a treat to behold as well. A pity it was short.

Transformers: Animated is really good. The stylized art takes a little getting used to, but works well once you do. I thought the show would be kiddy and comedic too, and it is sometimes, but there some episodes that get really dark and adult.

Transformers Prime has one of the most disturbing deaths in an animated kid's series. You don't see it, but the aftermath is like a serial killer's crime scene.
