Anyone else surprised when picking this up at Walmart to see the changed titled on the cover? Lol

Not really, "Zack and Miri make a porno" was changed to 'Zack and Miri".

I find this sort of marketing(censorship) to be really hypocritical. They want money enough that they will sell objectionable things but they won't use a word.

Its the same as when people swear by using similar sounding words... you're doing the thing just use the cover/swear.

I'm not surprised by it, Walmart has the weirdest censorship. Why not just not sell it? Or put a bag over it or something. I would purposefully not buy a movie at WM if they edit the title on the actual product.

A Christmas Horror Story was changed to Holiday Horror Story (I think, not positive what it was changed to, but positive it was changed). This was even funnier in that only the slipcover was changed, under it was the real title and it wasn't wrapped over the slip either.

Deathgasm was changed to Heavy Metal Apocalypse or something like that. No slipcover, so different cover all together.

I'm sure I'm missing a few, just know these as I recall seeing them there before getting the real titles elsewhere.

It's definitely weird to me. Why not just choose to not even carry a certain title if the name offends that much. They have stopped selling other things recently because they felt the need to...

Wal-Mart is a store that also still sells amended cds. So it's not that surprising.

Oddly enough, when MGM released the 15th anniversary Blu-ray of Showgirls in 2010, I found it at a Walmart. I couldn't believe that a company that sells edited/censored music CDs of certain albums and alters the titles of certain movies on DVD/Blu-ray releases would stock a NC-17 rated film. Hasn't Walmart gone back and forth on stocking Unrated editions of raunchy comedies like American Pie, Eurotrip, and such?

Regarding the censoring of lyrics and titles, they should sell the product as is, or don't sell it at all.

Yet they absolutely allow movies like Hellboy and others to have unaltered covers and stuff. They're so inconsistent.

It makes it even weirder that Walmart sells guns, but edited them off of the Anna cover lol Kids don't even have to go 100 feet from the movies to see guns in my local WM

I made a joke that the reason they remove "Satanic" was because they didn't want to anger their lord and master.

By the way, the changed title is only on the slipcover and not the actual case artwork... crazy that Walmart went to the trouble to print their own slips... wonder if this version will become a rarity? Lol

I doubt Walmart printed their own slips. The studio probably did that in order to get it onto Walmart shelves.
