Default HBO Max & Discovery + No Longer Being Combined Into One Streamer?

The trades are reporting the WBD has decided not to fold Discovery + into HBO Max and let Discovery + remain as a standalone streamer.

https://variety.com/2023/tv/news/dis...os-1235516716/

Here's the thing that I find irksome and was my concern when this was all annouinced. According to this,WBD decided on this because they're afraid they will lose too many Discovery + subscribers who are only interested in Discovery if they are forced to pay the much higher price due to the HBO/HBO Max content.

But they are still rebranding HBO Max with a new name(MAX?) and moving all the Discovery + content to the new service with the HBO/HBO Max content and they if,I'm reading the article right, are going to increase the price for the combined service which was my fear fro me start.Being forced to pay extra for the Discovery + content which I have no interest in and will never watch.

But to add salt to the wound....

1)They just increased the price of HBO MAX(while removing lots of content) last month and again,if I'm understanding right, are going to increase it again just a few months later for added content that I don't want.

2)The Discovery + subscribers will have the option of not paying the extra money for the content they have no interest in/don't want by letting Discovery + stay as a standalone service but the HBO Max subscribers won't have that same option for the content they don't want to pay for.

Also, how does all affect people who get HBO Max with HBO thru their cable providers like Xfinity?

That’s what I mean, deals have to be finalized. Warner has more shows that are coming to Tubi that weren’t announced but are coming.

It's weird that Lovecraft Country is there considering it's still on HBO Max. Genera+tion, the most important show so far since it was one scrubbed from HBO Max, is already on Tubi as well.

Unsure. I could have sworn I saw Freakazoid on one of the services recently.

I just remembered yes freakazoid is on one of them shame about the others though especially swat kats and two stupid dogs. the reason I’m not as bother by pirates of dark water not being available despite it being one of my favorite shows is the ending of it still hurts they couldn’t even finish it in a comic something anything.

Jake Sherman:

@sherman4949

Happy Max Day! Warner Bros Discovery will unveil its combined HBO Max/Discovery+ service at 10 am in LA. All sources tell me it will be named Max, as we first broke back in December: cnbc.com/2022/12/05/war…

I’m told it will go live in a month or so. We’ll know exactly when soon…
