Default Shark Tale (2004) Discussion

What happens when you mix Finding Nemo, Goodfellas, and Dear Evan Hansen?

Seems random to talk about this now but in light of Will Smith's likely win at the Oscars soon, it's quite fascinating how the worst movie Dreamworks has ever made is the one where nearly all the main cast members seen on the poster are Oscar winners. Even Pixar can't claim that distinction. Jack Black is the only one who doesn't have a nom, let alone a win. He's gotta hook up with his pal Linklater soon.

This movie is revoltingly ugly. And I’m not sure what Jeffrey Katzenberg had on Martin Scorsese to get him to voice a character in this. Perhaps an ancient amulet controlling his actions

I took my daughter to see this. I had a feeling it was gonna blow chunks, but WOW...

The things we do for love. (I miss you, Nicole.)

The movie is absolutely appalling to look at or watch.

But I cannot help but continue. I'm young enough to remember this as an youngin', but I haven't seen it in like a decade.

I haven't seen it since it came out, but I seem to remember it being decently funny and edgy for a family animated feature. I looked at the unwatched Blu-ray on my shelf just the other day. I'm going to make a point to watch it this month. I'm especially curious to revisit it since you all are collectively saying how bad it is.

Haven't seen it since it was first on DVD, but I remember Scorsese being the surprise comedy highlight.

The comparison between this & Finding Nemo is a prime case of how clueless Dreamworks animation was back then when it came to casting. While Pixar took the time to find the right actor for the roles, Dreamworks would just shove as many big name stars in as possible, no matter what.

Not quite sure who thought it was a good idea to have fish look like Will Smith & Angelina Jolie either. It's just weird.
