There's a strong possibility of this coming to PS5 & Series X
https://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2...-new-direction Appears former Driveclub devs are involved too for fans of that particular title which i am myself. Looking forwards to playing this if the article is anything to go by and their prior form. |

It's nice to see the racing genre got a boost with these titles. |

I had the first one. It was OK. Though I could never quite dial the controls in just right. I watched a lot of YouTube videos to try and get it to where I liked it but it never felt as good as it does in Gran Turismo. I never played PC2 so I'm not sure if they improved on that with the sequel.
One of my absolute favorite features of PC was the fact your crew chief talked to you through the controller speaker. I thought that was a really cool addition, as it made races feel more immersive. It really felt like your crew chief was "radioing" in to your cockpit. Last edited by Steelmaker; 06-05-2020 at 01:29 PM. |

I played Project Cars 2 after borrowing it from a colleague, and honestly the game is nowhere near the standard of even Driveclub, let alone the mega-franchises of Forza Motorsport or GT Sport. Mediocre graphics, poorly optimised, i didn't play it for long after i had it.

I figure financially it makes a ton more sense and quality wise the products not necessarily compromised. After all, racing games will probably be one of the few genres that cannot evolve much beyond the current design philosophy to something that cannot be done on current gen imo. Funnily enough, i could see a type of game almost not tied to tracks perhaps, but a massive "global" type perhaps open world game in the genre being the exception but anything relying on closed circuits which the majority do probably won't need the next gen only spec like the NVMe.

My interest in the game has gone up considerably seeing as Codemasters are going to be releasing it. I wonder how much of the game's development was done before Codemasters had Slightly Mad join the studio. And hopefully Paul R can bring some of the Driveclub 'mojo' to the new game.

The interior views were nice in Project Cars 2. Developing a car simulation or racing series is a challenge, especially when trying to gain enough fans to keep a series going. Whatever happened to the Grid series? I thought that had a good following to it.
Yes. Financially, it's less risky to honor the already massive PS4 fanbase than to just only release it for the PS5's small original segment of gamers. I wonder if the PS5 will release at least a million units per the US, Europe, other countries and Japan. |

But I stiil think that going full next gen is more appealing than cross gen for a racing sim |

I doubt any cross-gen racing game will be “held-back” because of current gen.
They just dial back the finer details. Only thing I can think of that next gen could offer that current gen can’t is a higher level of immersion by increasing the “sense” of the cars speed on the track. 120 FPS will also likely be a target mid generation. |

I'm still enjoying it but the PS4 version is not a looker and has horrible performance at times so hopefully the PS5 version is a lot better. Should have known it was a bad sign when they were only showing the PC version and giving YouTubers and streamers access to only that version. Such a shame when Rushy was the lead on this and you can feel his influence all over it making you want some Driveclub level visuals

Agreed. There's a huge installed fanbase of gamers for PS4 already established. Every new console, initial sales might trickle in for new games. With PS4, that's a solid income if the game is good and well advertised. |
