Hi there, just hoping to get some input/feedback from Rotel owners on a situation I am in. I bought a Rotel RMB-1555 power amp online from a dealer waaaaay on the other side of my country, and when it arrived to me I found out that they sent me the wrong amp, it is the older RMB-1095. I know the 1095 is a beefier amp with larger power supply, 200wpc vs the smaller 120wpc of the RMB 1555. The 1095 I guess could be anywhere between 12-20+ yrs old? The 1555 was only 2-3 yrs old.
Trying to decide if I should re-ship the 1095 back to them and get them to send me the 1555, or just accept the 1095 if it is overall a better amp? As far as performance, which if the two is a better amp? Is there a difference in sonic signature between the two models, seeing as they are far apart in terms of their age/build date... maybe Rotel changed the sound of the newer amps a bit? Which of the two has a quieter noise floor, blacker background? My speakers aren't too difficult to drive, so I'm not sure if the extra power of the 1095 would really be useful to me at all... just interested in the sonic differences between the two amps. Thanks for any info you guys can give me. |
