Excellent news! It’s good to have more De Sica released.

Wow, Miracolo a Milano, haven't seen this movie in many years. I remember the first time I saw it, thinking "how come I never heard of this delightful fantasy before?". Definitely one of my favorite Italian movies.

I wish some label would dig into more of his films as an actor, Criterion had Il Generale Della Rovere, but I'm thinking of the light comedies from the 1950's with Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida, Alberto Sordi and Marcello Mastroianni. Stuff like Il conte Max, Il bigamo, Peccato che sia una canaglia, Gli ultimi cinque minuti, L'oro di Napoli and the Pane, amore e ... films

Now I'm patiently waiting for an English-friendly release of the director's The Garden of the Finzi-Continis, which has been restored and released in France last year (looks far from ideal, I'm afraid, but better than nothing).

DVD Beaver review is up. Looks miles better than the Arrow Academy release from 2012, of course.

...i read somewhere that the scene in this movie where people take to the air on broomsticks inspired Spielberg's famous airborne bicycles scene in E.T......will certainly buy the Criterion which is presently selling for $19.99 on amazon..
