In the middle of that decade, Wenders embarked on a three-film journey that took him from the wide roads of Germany to the endless highways of the United States and back again. Starring Rüdiger Vogler as the director’s alter ego, Alice in the Cities, Wrong Move, and Kings of the Road are dramas of emotional transformation that follow their characters’ searches for themselves, all rendered with uncommon soulfulness and visual poetry. Big Wim Wenders fan ever since the '90's, when I took a class called New German Cinema in college.
I've never seen any of these three films, so it will be nice to finally get ahold of these. Would also like to see his classic sci-fi/road trip film Until the End of the World on Region 1 Blu. |

I would also recommend Paris-Texas, which is the only Wenders movie I've seen except for Until the End of the world (from which I don't remember anything. It was in my teens more than 20 years ago)

I'm starting to put together a tentative list of blind buy possibilities for the Barnes and Noble July sale and I'm considering putting this set on it.
I'm intrigued by the idea of three great road movies and a lot of folks here seem to really love them some Wim Wenders. It's either this or The American Friend, but probably not both. That being said, the only WW film I've seen is Paris, Texas and I didn't care for it much. Not exactly sure why that is, but I just didn't like it. Anyone have any strong thoughts on the matter? ...you can punch me in the face if you want to. |

The subject matter mostly. I just felt more invested in Damiel and his understanding of humans, falling in love, the interiority of it all. And, while Peter Falk makes me nauseous, I liked the behind the scenes filmmaking subplot. I don't know. I guess I was just caught up more so with that than following a drifter trying to connect with his family. I do admit, though, that I need to watch Paris, Texas again. It's been a few years since I saw it.

I respect Jim Jarmusch for his contribution to the world of independent filmmaking, but if I never see Stranger Than Paradise again, I'll be fine with that. |

![]() I made the mistake of watching this Jarmusch film today. I get it, first feature and all but not much to like about it. The only two Jarmusch films I enjoy are Mystery Train and Broken Flowers. |
