Paramount The Truman Show (1998)

One of my favorite movies of the 90s with Jim Carrey in the role of his life. Unfortunately only available on an absolutely mediocre Blu-Ray.

Since Paramount is currently rescanning some movies in 4K, I hope this masterpiece is among them.

This title has been issued four times in BD by Paramount. It obviously SELLS. At the very least, it should get a PPresents edition but hopefully it'll be given the 4K treatment.

It's in 4K on iTunes UK, watched it last night and the picture quality is fantastic. I hope there is a UHD disc release of this.

I got it on VUDU UHD yesterday and it does look very good. I A-B'd it with the Blu-ray and it's a huge improvement.

Next year is the 25th anniversary, so maybe Paramount releases it on disc then.

All Paramount's Blu-ray releases were marred by being horizontally stretched to a 1.78 ratio, making everyone look slightly fat and distorting the shots of the moon and the golf ball. The original DVD release in 1999 was the only home video release in the correct ratio of 1.66.

A 4K/UHD release would be great, provided they don't repeat this blunder.

Agreed, but this one isn't a stretch to imagine. Like Paramount's Event Horizon, we know this has a new 4K scan which is available to purchase on iTunes. So it's just a matter of time.

That’s the point. He plays it safe so if/when it happens, he tries to act like he has inside sources.

Jim didn't like it, he's just tagged in it but the person who posted it. He hasn't "liked" anything on Twitter since 2014.
