Default Forza Horizon 2 (Fall 2014)

Quote:
It’s time to crank up the stereo and hit the open road once again, as Microsoft has announced Forza Horizon 2, the next installment in their flagship racing series. Forza Horizon 2 is in development for Xbox One and Xbox 360 and due for release this fall.

The racer follows 2012’s critically acclaimed franchise spinoff Forza Horizon for Xbox 360 and 2013’s frontline Xbox One launch game Forza Motorsport 5. Development is being handled primarily by Horizon 1 studio Playground Games, though the team is collaborating closely with the Motorsport team at Turn 10 Studios; the two teams share a technology pipeline as well as select key personnel.

Hello, Lambo.

“[Turn 10 and Playground] share this belief that we can create a true home for racing fans on Xbox One,” said Horizon 2 creative director Ralph Fulton.

In making the leap to Xbox One, Forza Horizon 2 will include hundreds of cars, according to Playground Games, headlined by the 2015 Lamborghini Huracán. A long-awaited weather system will also make its Forza debut, while Forza 5’s Drivatar system is also being adapted for Horizon 2.

Contrary to recent rumors, it won’t take place in the bayous of Louisiana...

As for the game’s setting? Contrary to recent rumors, it won’t take place in the bayous of Louisiana. Instead, the game will take place in gorgeous Southern Europe, leading to, in Fulton’s words, “incredible diversity” and “amazing vistas.” Music will again play a big part in the game, and a music festival will be the central event around which the game’s activities revolve.

Extensive improvements and features are in store for Horizon 2, which IGN will showcase throughout June as part of our brand-new IGN First initiative. We traveled to Playground Games in the UK and brought back a (metric!) ton of content that we’re excited to share with you all month long, including tomorrow’s full preview of our hands-on time with the game.

Sweet! It will be interesting to see this go head to head with Driveclub! Between this, Driveclub, and Project CARS this is going to be a great year for racing.

Setting is far better than the rumor. Cross gen on the other hand is complete garbage.

According to a tweet from IGN executive editor editor Ryan McCaffrey, "another studio" is developing the Xbox 360 version of Forza Horizon 2, while Playground is creating the Xbox One version in the Forza Motorsport 5 engine.
Looks pretty damn good to me!

Bad idea on Microsoft's part about making it cross platform, maybe they remember how when the 360 came out they just let the OG xbox die. And dont want to do it again. But unless they are making two complete games the One version will suffer, since they have to make the game run on 360 as well.

Also lets not get into having a new game from a franchise on an annual basis. Every other year or two is better.

IGN has updated the article stating:

Quote:
UPDATE: To clarify, the Playground Games is developing solely for the Xbox One version, using Forza Motorsport 5's graphics engine as a baseline. The Xbox 360 version is being handled separately by Sumo Digital.

I'm sure it will, and most likely a steelbook as well.

Didn't expect this to be coming out September 30th but I'll take it.

The date scares me that they are rushing it out to beat Driveclub to the market.

I'm sure it's been in development for at least 2 years.

Given that Drive Club is a year late, probably not! Similar looking experiences though, I hope the social side doesn't get in the way of some out and out fun racing.

After watching tons of high quality video footage of both Drivclub and and Forza Horizons 2, I think Driveclub blows FH2 out of the water graphically. Now obviously we haven't played them yet so I can't make any judgements there but just based on what I'm seeing, FH2 looks like a last gen game that's been ported over to X1 and the graphics were beefed up. Driveclub looks like a true next gen racing game that was designed as such. Can't wait to play both though.

As long as it's not a cheap looking steelbook. Like the other Forza steelbooks.

Don't know what is taking them so long to reveal the limited edition. The fine print at the end of the E3 trailer said the day one cars would be in the day one edition and limited edition. So there obviously is one coming. Maybe saving the reveal for Gamescom?

I'm ready for this game! I would take advantage of the digital preorder but they haven't said if it'll come with the preorder exclusives like the retailers have.
