Streets of Rage 4 was excellent and proof that when Sega licenses out their properties, they finally offer new games of the classics.
A new Shinobi, side scroller looks interesting. I'll probably buy it as a fan. A 3D Streets of Rage. Very interesting. The last attempt by Sega was with Fighting Force, which was originally going to be Streets of Rage but in 3D space. Hopefully they'll get it perfected here with this new developer creating it if not Sega firsthand. And a 3D space Golden Axe. Not being a side scroller brawler will be an adjustment. Good to see Gillius Thunderhead the Dwarf. I really hope they get Tyris Flare and Ax Battler in there too. Those are a must. The sequel, Revenge of Death Adder, was good, but too many odd characters like the horse guy for example. I don't want to play as a horse, but the original 3 heroes as a big fan of Golden Axe 1 arcade and the Genesis version. This is all great news though, and I am really happy to see Golden Axe will emerge as a new game hopefully by 2025. Awesome news. |

I don't know if Streets of Rage is a good example. Wasn't that made by a team that was already making games inspired by SoR, kind of a passion project? We don't know who is making any of these games so I really hope Sega has devs who are trying to make the next great game in the series, and not just paint the IP on games in the genre. I had a lot of fun with games in the announced series so I want Sega to pull this off so I remain cautiously optimistic.

Sega licensed projects by other developers:
Sonic Mania - Great game. Streets of Rage 4 - Great game. In the new Golden Axe, I see there is a playable female character who could be Tyris Flare, as she's wearing a red outfit, but has blonde hair for some reason instead of brown like in the first game. She also doesn't have her sword, but is using a double bladed Spear, and is shooting a fire spell from her hand. So that's either Tyris, or her relative. I like when they just say it's Tyris, and not a relative like they did in that Sega Saturn Golden Axe Fighters game. |

A recent interview with SoA CEO Shuji Utsumi and Gene Park of the Washington Post revealed the following:
- SEGA want to return to the rebellious energy of the Dreamcast era ("New Energy") - Confirms the original creators are involved in Jet Set Radio reboot - More reveals planned - On Virtua Fighter: “We are evaluating right now. Virtua Fighter doesn’t use so many tricks, special moves like in Street Fighter, it’s very realistic [...] How can we make it more dramatic? It’s something we’re working on.” - Credits Sonic, Yakuza, and Persona for keeping SEGA afloat |

I'm hoping the new games will be good, but I won't go so far as to "hold my breath." Even when Sega seems to get on the right track with something, it doesn't take long for them to get derailed. The quality of Sonic has been all over the place for years.
I'm particularly interested in the new Crazy Taxi if it ends up being good. I would also love for them to re-release the original game on current consoles, BUT actually renew all of the licensing for the music, stores, restaurants, etc. from the original game. Even if that means the re-release comes at a higher cost than previous re-releases, that is fine, I will happily pay it. And while I may be going even further down that tangent, if they were to renew that licensing, I would love to see Sega work with a company like Arcade1Up to make a new sit down Crazy Taxi cabinet (that is obviously smaller than the actual original arcade, but large enough to work well for a full sized adult). I'm limited on space and only have 2 A1up cabinets, but I would buy that if done correctly. |

Sega is kind of on a roll lately:
Sonic Mania (very positive reviews) Streets of Rage 4 (very positive reviews) Sonic Frontiers (well received overall) Sonic Superstars (okay to good reviews) Golden Axe Reboot Streets of Rage Reboot Shinobi Reboot Jet Set Radio Reboot There was a rumor that Microsoft is planning to buy Sega. That would totally stink. |

![]() Seriously though, I'd be happy Sega gave us a quality home conversion of Golden Axe: The Revenge of Death Adder while we wait for the new game. If M2 is can take a break from ShotTriggers they should get back to Sega ageS. |

A home conversion of all the Sega Arcade games and Death Adder would've been awesome. The only console arcade sega games I've played were the ones unlocked in all the varied Sega Genesis Collections as bonuses. So many cool Sega arcade games totally ignored by Sega to consoles. Thankfully I've played most of them. Super Monaco GP the arcade game is insanely difficult. I have yet to get past the first map. The Genesis version was much easier. Sega's Eighteen Wheeler, I'd like to see on consoles again too. I have it for the old Sega Dreamcast. I should set it up again. It's been many years. Thanks. |

Most of those areas in Jet Set Radio look like Shibuya-cho, making me wonder if this is just a glorified remake. Think I spotted three of the four Dreamcast places. The city looks almost abandoned.
Crazy Taxi might be mostly a remake. It was difficult for me to spot the areas from the original. Neither Crazy Taxi nor Jet Set Radio have the (inexpective) graphical leaps that I would have expected after three generations. Trees in Jet Set Radio look PS2 era. I pictured some basic physics in Crazy Taxi, like clothes and hair blowing in the wind for a sense of speed, but there's just one solid clump attached to Gena's head. Gives the impression of the least effort/money possible. What is with this garish green fire under the tires? That's not the CT I love. Police will just complicate the working formula. Paraphrased from ResetEra
Based on recent recruitment listings posted at ResetEra the Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio games will fall under SEGA's Super Games Initiative. Division 3 is the online division which is reported to handle Super Games releases. Jet Set Radio's staff was moved from Division 4 (mobile) to Division 3. Division 3 has also been confirmed through interviews to be focused on games as a service. They handle PSO2. So both titles have a good chance of being online and AAA priced. |

Gematsu reporting renewed Sega trademarks, guess Altered Beast, Eternal Champions and Kid Chameleon will be part of the “and more” from the teaser. Useless trivia: Mark Cerny was part of the team that made Kid Chameleon.
