It's been almost 30 years since "The Kids In The Hall" TV series went off the air and Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson went off to fulfill solo careers. They may not be kids anymore, but the Canadian kings of sketch comedy are back. In the years following the end of their eponymous show, they put out the film "Brain Candy," have reunited a handful of times for tours and comedy festivals, and in 2010 released the eight-part miniseries, "Death Comes to Town." But now, The Kids are back for a full-blown, eight-episode revival season for Prime Video. The project is a long time coming, as rumblings of the revival date back as early as 2017; it was given the official announcement in 2020. For obvious pandemic-related reasons, it's only now that we're finally getting to revisit our favorite weirdos.
The trailer opens with the Kids getting exhumed from a grave site, looking older, wiser, but just as ridiculous as they did in their heyday. Mark McKinney serves as the de facto narrator of the trailer, dressed like a business executive and definitely going to throw off anyone who only knows McKinney as "Superstore" manager Glenn Sturgis. Joining the main five kids are other comedic greats like Paul Bellini, Pete Davidson, Catherine O'Hara, Kenan Thompson, Brandon Ash-Mohammed, Will Forte, Catherine Reitman, Samantha Bee, Fred Armisen, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee, Jay Baruchel, Eddie Izzard, Tracee Ellis Ross, Mark Hamill, and Colin Mochrie.* The show will bring back some of their all-time great characters (hail the Head Crusher!!!) and plenty of new ones sure to become fast favorites.*Get ready for wigs, makeup, costumes, silly voices, sillier props, and a hell of a good time. "The Kids in the Hall" will return on May 13, 2022. Read More: https://www.slashfilm.com/831685/the..._campaign=clip This is HUGE. [Show spoiler] I'm really excited about the Kids in the Hall revival too! Last edited by An4h0ny; 04-14-2022 at 03:39 PM. |

I still haven't seen the last thing they did together...I think it was "Death Comes To Town"

That's an odd reason not to watch. Can't imagine he would be in more than a cameo or one skit.
But I have certain people I avoid as well, so I definitely get the sentiment. I do like Kenan though. Last edited by An4h0ny; 04-22-2022 at 09:45 PM. |

It’s hugely uneven, and they wrote the episode in pairs as opposed to a full collective, which contributes to its off-kilter nature. Some fantastic moments, though, and it generally got better as it progressed |

The simpler truth behind DCTT’s inferior quality is that it’s even further removed from the sketch format by being twice as long as Brain Candy, and their pool of collaborators was weakened. The absence of Norm Hiscock being the most obvious example. |

Brain Candy is flawless in my opinion, despite Foley not contributing to its writing. Even the massive chunk of deleted scenes from its 3rd act are pretty great |

I think Scott struggling with cancer (unbeknownst to the public as it was airing, if I recall) during both the writing and production of When Death Comes to Town, causing his inability to contribute to the extent he wanted to, certainly played a role in hampering the final product, as well.
