Having spent more than half the year banned from posting on this boards it’s become increasingly clear that my presence on the forums or indeed on this site is no longer tenable or, in certain circles, desirable, so in light of the hostile environment it’s time for Aclea the elephant to pack his bags and say goodbye to the circus: I’ve decided to leave these boards on my own terms rather than wait for the inevitable permanent ban.

I’d like to thank those here who’ve offered their support in various posts over the three or so months I’ve been banned this year and let them know I’ll be checking my PM box for anyone who wants to stay in touch via email or has any suggestions of alternate sites.

Do bear in mind the account could be banned again regardless of whether I’m actively posting or not, and when a user is banned the system here will not accept PMs or allow me to read those already there (I’ll just get an email saying my message box is full but I won’t be able to access it). In that event, you can contact Chip75, who’ll pass on any messages.




PS If you do leave any response on this thread, please keep it civil to avoid giving BigNick any grief: he most definitely is not part of the problem.

I too have my moments when I want to leave this site for good for times when I am not being treated well on here. So I can understand where you are coming from except for the part of being banned for several months. But I wish you good luck.

This is a real sad turn of events, since your insightful discussions and reviews here, at least for me, have been synonymous with this place.
I've always enjoyed going through them and always had something to learn, even though I almost never participated in any of them .

I can't really understand what's the deal behind all these bans, but it's a real shame and...no further comments I guess.

A great shame, there has been a few issues around Doctor Who threads, and there were 3 of us who were being accused of being part of a 3 way bullying campaign which couldn’t have been further from the truth. Personally I didn’t get along at all with the attitude of one of the others who were supposed to be a part of this triad so it was a complete nonsense.

But over the last few months of posting here I’ve grown to enjoy the conversations with Aclea. I think in terms of Doctor Who fandom we seemed to come from a similar place and he will be missed. His posts could be informative, witty, interesting or all of the above.

It’s funny you should mention about slipcases because the UK Disney thread is almost taken up with posts about slipcases. It’s no wonder Disney treats the actual media itself as not important when forums are full of obsessive fans going on about the latest variant slipcover.

Apparently I’m bullying by commenting on obsessive fans with slipcovers.

Not quite sure how making a general comment without naming anyone is bullying. Sending a private message accusing me of bullying seems to fit the bill though.

I've only been on the forums for a short time, and I haven't seen a lot of you (due to bans I'm guessing and lack of time in Dr Who threads). But every time I've seen one of your posts they've either been entertaining or informative. So, for that I thank you.

In my entire life I've never been banned from posting on any message board.
I guess you are showing some self reflection in knowing you will be probably get banned, but wouldn't it make sense to instead just adjust your behaviour so you can stick around? Just saying as I'd rather see people such as yourself remain than leave. In any case, good luck.

Aclea - that’s real shame mate. I don’t post on here much but did used to read the UK and US blu-Ray forum sections every few days to see what had been released and what people were buying though.

Along with Geoff D and Sky Captain (is he still around on here?) you were the only other poster that’d I’d make the effort to view their profile and actively search for their posts as I could see they loved movies, collecting and discussing.

I don’t have any interest in upgrading to 4K discs so all I buy is a few random titles each month off eBay but particularly found your insight into Warner Bros movies production history brilliant at a time where sadly this forum is bogged down with inane rubbish on what people pick up in charity shops or how expensive films in Sue Ryder or a hospice shop are...

Can I just ask three questions before you leave,

1 What is the movie in your avatar by your user name?
2 What are your 5 best movies by Warner Bros?
3 How big a hit on home release over the years was The Last Boy Scout? A horrible, cynical little private eye flick but is Bruce at his best and a magic partnership by the late Tony Scott and Shane Black. I’ve had it on vhs as a kid when it came out then the import dvd, the UK blu then got the US double pack blu and the US original one sheet
