Bryan Singer is a more than capable director who has, may I remind you, directed some of the best movies in the last 20 years. Both X-Men and X2: X-Men United are still the two best comic book movies ever made. Nothing wrong with Singer.

His X-Men movies were great at the time and are still pretty good, but they’ve been surpassed by other movies. He hasn’t actual directed some of the best movies of the last twenty years, Usual Suspects aside. X-Men Apocalypse and Jack and the Giant Slayer were major duds. |

There is nothing that surpassed X-Men and X2: X-Men United. Not in terms of comic book movies. They are still the gold standard for their genre. And let's not forget Superman Returns and X-Men: Days of Future Past. He's had his faults, bad-movie wise, but who hasn't. Take a look at Steven Spielberg. Aside from Indiana Jones and Ready Player One he hasn't had a really knocked it out of the park type movie in the last 10 years. He's actually become less interesting in these last 10 years. Competent, but nowhere near what he once was capable of.

did you watch the movie? because I didn't, because I saw a Sacha Baron Cohen talkshow segment where he explains why he left a Freddie Mercury movie project was because Brian May insisted the movie being about the band rather than a Mercury tribute/biopic (and the movie was supposed to keep rolling long past Freddie's death), that's when I stopped paying attention. Malik isn't exactly my personal pick for Freddie, but is this that movie SBC left?

![]() I watched it on the 25th, and it is more of a Freddie bio-pic. And no, it does not have him dying in the middle of the movie. |

Saw it today, big disappointment. Bryan Singer is such a hit or miss director, probably the most inconsistent director I've seen.
50% of his movies from good to great, the other 50% from bleh to terrible. This one was a bleh. |
