Interesting to see that "Remastered" looks awfully like the games of yesteryear tarted up no better than say the PC releases could look.
I'd much prefer they simply do a remake of GTA Vice City tbh at this point if they ran out of ideas. |

I heard the San Andreas remaster for the 360 was terrible, though, so I'm cautious.
For a remaster all I really require is 4K 60FPS, and as a bonus, if they could add a 360 degree camera instead of it breaking into first person mode, that'd be great. All I'd really care about being included would be GTA3, Vice City, Liberty City and Vice City Stories. I actually never got into San Andreas. |

I sincerely hope so but we're yet to get an official announcement and trailer to showcase the upgrades and hopefully make it worth buying over the current PSN offerings.

If these classic GTA games can get improved polygons so the characters look modern, then that would take it into the remake realm, so best to expect squared faces, arms and legs as with any PS2 era game. Good for its time.
Those games displayed originally in 480p on PS2, all blurry compared to the sharpness of the PS1. I still have on disc: GTA GTAIII GTAVice City GTA San Andreas GTA Liberty City Stories GTA V Have the remastered trilogy on my PS5 of the PS3 remaster of GTA VC, III and SA. For the games, they stall every few seconds for a split second on PS5. I should try them on PS4. The 1080p makes them look much better than the PS2 versions. Unless they remake these, I'll skip the re-release of the remasters. Had GTAV on PS3, but traded it in to buy GTAV new on release for $30. Had GTA IV but after my 360 burnt out, never rebought it for PS3. I wasn't a fan of that game but I liked the landscape and main character Nico. Never played GTA Vice City Stories for PS2. |

Unfortunately times have moved on and expectations are high since GTA V even.
Remastering PS2 era games without a remake even if they're the best versions available probably won't go down as well if they're gonna get overly hyped to make bank for R*. Plus, it will be interesting to see how they compare to the fan modded versions that Take-Down, i mean Take-Two did against all the other mods etc of these games being updated. ![]() |

Hopefully when they say "new and old graphics" they're referring to the polygon graphics getting a major upgrade to smooth edges instead of PS2 polygon edges. I would be very surprised if that happened.
Instead, I'm expecting mostly the interface graphics will be updated, like the menus and options of the games, for 4K. Beyond that, I expect these classic hits to be mostly untouched by Rockstar. These games do deserve an upgrade, I'll admit. Now if it looks almost like the PS3 remaster, then many will be disappointed. If all this pans out. I'm personally happy with the PS3 remaster to 1080p with the exception of Vice City stalling every ten seconds for a few frames on PS5. I think it's meant to be played on PS4. |
