Old Henry 4K Blu-ray

Not sure how this Shout release got missed, but it looks to have also been announced today with a release date of 9/20.

Assuming this is true, I wonder if shout saw that a 4K is getting released in Germany and decided to curb peoples money away from importing. Either way their blu-ray was more or less JUST released and I already bought and can’t return at this point, so I’m kinda pissed I have to upgrade when they should’ve just released it in 4K in the first place. This I think may also be their first 4K release of a current film if I’m not mistaken…


Edit: ok it was released in November of last year, but that’s less than a year later for this upgrade, technically just over half a year later. This is one of those situations where they really should give people a discount with proof of purchase of the blu-ray version.

I've only seen the film via streaming 4K on Amazon.

Loved the film, but the PQ was far from ideal. Not sure that 4K makes a whole lot of sense in terms of upgrade material.

I'd have to image the DVD would look pretty awful though.

Curious if the transfer looks materially different than the streaming version.

What do you mean “assuming this is true?” It’s literally listed for sale on Shout’s website lol.

The german one was even more annoying, as the german blu-ray just came out on the 26th of May and the german 4k got announced end of June.

I imported the US blu earlier this year and nearly bought the german one to compare the compression. Saw the 4k announcement the day I wanted to go to the store to pick it up.

Now I'm waiting til October, awesome movie.

Just got the Digital 4K on sale but this physical release should have been available day 1. I'll wait for a sale to pick this up as I already have the Blu-ray.

I saw this on Blu the other night and liked it a lot.
My sister’s audio set up isn’t the greatest and with the southern accent, I had trouble keeping up. So for 4K to be coming out shortly, this is perfect! I’ll get the 4K and watch it again at home to catch what I missed.
Good movie and I hope the 4K is good as well!

Great concept, sorta bad execution. Watched half of it and Wikipedia’s the rest of the plot. The actor who played Henry probably should have been someone else. The others seemed well enough cast. Just don’t like that main actor too much

This is a fantastic western. If you haven't seen it, and enjoy westerns, do yourself a favor and don't read to much about it online to avoid spoilers and just pick it up.

Anyone carrying this? One of the Amazon photos shows a slip, Shout website and this one do not. Anyone know? If none I could probably put this one on the back burner for a while. Little discussion about this one.

Looks like this comes with a slip. Got the pic from a listing on Ebay.


Also I got this movie confused with the other UHD release named Henry which doesn't have a US release.

$4.99 on iTunes and looking good.

Average video bit rate is 24 Mbps and given the 2.66:1 AR, I don't see any need for super demanding bit rates.

Will try the disc if the movie has any replay value.

Good movie. Not so good PQ. Lots of noise and I think the only time the HDR made an impact was when there was fire on the screen.

Don't know how I missed this release. I just watched it and really enjoyed it. A decent new western is a very hard thing to come across these days, but this one delivered some of the old-skool goods. Solid dialogue, cool quirky characters, and some great gunplay. I'll grab the 4k to support the title.
