Sorry if this has already got a thread, but it looks like the US label Fun City Editions are giving the UK market a go. Quite curious to see 'Walking the Edge', looks good.

Yes, mentioned already on the Radiance thread as they'll be distributing FCE's releases in the UK. Looks like it'll be one-per-month to start with - Married to the Mob (Jan), Cutter's Way (Feb) and Walking the Edge (March).
Also confirmed it won't be all the US releases (I believe rights for Morvern Callar are still difficult for UK, for example...fine for me though as I already imported it, being that it's Region Free). Some seem more likely than others, but it'll most likely include their other MGM titles such as Born to Win, Rancho Deluxe, Heartbreakers, The Coca-Cola Kid, Alphabet City, Smile and Jeremy. Walking the Edge wasn't a studio title AFAIK, so we could see UK editions of Natural Enemies and maybe even Primetime Panic if we're lucky. I'd be especially excited about more Ivan Passer and Frank Perry! What we won't see are titles with UK releases already, namely I Start Counting and Radio On (BFI) and Bilitis (Screenbound). |

It would be nice if they released Smile (1975) over here. I've been meaning to import it for a while... Maybe, if they release it now, it might get confused with that daft-looking horror movie that's doing the rounds and be a good seller for them.

In fact I very nearly imported the US disc before because it's Region Free. Now I'm glad I didn't as it'll be a bit cheaper to get it in the UK! |

Just for consistency’s sake really. I’m sure not every FCE will be ported, but it would be awkward having a shelf with a combination of UK and US releases, with some design differences. Though would I keep FCE on a shelf with OCN or Radiance?

I know! Very happy. I posted this 'fantasy MoC' design several years back (2016, to be precise) on the Eureka thread, so happy to see it finally appear over here!
[Show spoiler] Hopefully some more Jeff Bridges titles follow this, namely Rancho Deluxe (which seems quite likely at this point, since it's also MGM like Cutter's Way and Married to the Mob). I also did a cover for Robert Benton's Bad Company, which would be lovely for Radiance to try and do something with as it's a lost classic in my opinion (perhaps the master isn't quite up to scratch for Blu-ray release). Also hoping more Ivan Passer shows up, obviously with Born to Win being likely too (again, MGM). I also wondered if Indicator could get hold of Silver Bears from StudioCanal at some point...feels like it could be up their street! Quote:
Anyway, worth just importing the Fun City Edition as it's a lovely release of a great film, and is Region Free. I didn't know Nil By Mouth was with WB, or Pathé previously in fact as I thought the DVD was Fox? Certainly when Get Carter was announced, BFI seemed adamant it was a one-off license from Warner Bros, and didn't mention Nil by Mouth as another title from them. I had assumed they had bought the rights outright or something, or Fox's rights had passed to a smaller production company/distributor whom BFI licensed it from. |
