Anyone pick this up? Wondering how it compares to the Vestron release.

Backcover does feature some wrong info too.. it states DTS-HD MA 2.0 when in fact it's LPCM 2.0 and feature length is stated as 124 mins instead of 98 mins. Last edited by Grimmy; 10-23-2019 at 03:26 PM. |

So, in short, "Rhea M" is not a translation at all, but rather an alternate title that was used for the German market. Hope that helps! |

Wow. I did not expect the Koch disc to actually show more grain and be much sharper than the US disc. Now I am tempted for a double dip.

Lionsgate tends to low-pass filter the video, probably to make encoding easier at the expense of high frequency detail and color intensity. Other examples of low-pass filtered Lionsgate BDs are John Wick 2/3 and Suspiria.
I have the French release which falls somewhere in between the Lionsgate and Koch BDs. Comparison of the FR and US BDs that I made a while ago Code:

The French is the middle ground but once I buy it they will announce a 4K somewhere . I see that the French edition would be the one to have with 5.1 DTS and PQ is better then the Vestron . What I do find interesting is the French and USA are Lionsgate and the German is Studio Canal . De Laurentiis Entertainment Group was eventually acquired by Studio Canal , And that's probably why the German is the best looking of the bunch plus a maxed out bitrate/encode . There is one media book that's cropped to 1.85 so careful which one you guys buy . Though all the Germans are OOP . Last edited by sa5150; 11-06-2023 at 09:20 AM. |

Lionsgate has the option to distribute Studio Canal titles in the US so they just released the Studio Canal master here but did a lousy job with compression/encoding on their disc. As they have sadly many times with "Vestron" titles.
German release remains the best of the group out there, Koch/Plaion typically does it right in terms of compression/authoring/etc. Will be interesting to see if this nabs a 4K down the road... |
