Kiss - Live in Vegas
Hans Zimmer - Live in Prague Easily one of the best live concerts i have ever seen, all his best music played by not only him but a band an orchestra and a choir. Helps that he has written some of my favourites, Batman, Superman, Crimson Tide and others The music from Gladiator and Pirates sounds stunning, gives the sub a workout to and the sound mix from start to finish is so good, lost count of how many times i have seen it |

The John Williams Live in Vienna (Deutsche Grammophon) Blu-ray features Dolby Atmos, conducting all his own music with Anne-Sophie Mutter on lead violin with the Vienna Philharmonic it's a great listen. Personal faves for me off this one are Raiders March, The Imperial March and Jurassic Park main theme. Remembrances from Schindler's List is great too. Interlaced video but the audio is why you're buying it.
https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/John-...lu-ray/282871/ Steven Wilson's newest studio album has Atmos, it's been his least favourably received album from fans but worth it just to have the track "King Ghost" in Atmos and it is only $18 https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Steve...lu-ray/265976/ The INXS Wembley concert has an Atmos track and was restored from film at 4K and is one of just a handful of concerts available in 4K Ultra HD; great PQ and SQ BD - https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/INXS-...lu-ray/254778/ UHD - https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/INXS-...lu-ray/270202/ Eric Clapton is one of the other concert 4K releases, The Lockdown Sessions has Atmos on both the BD and 4K versions. BD - https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Eric-...lu-ray/300384/ UHD - https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Eric-...lu-ray/300385/ Moby - Reprise (Deutsche Grammophon) has several reworkings of his hits with guest vocalists and new orchestrations presented in Atmos https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Moby-...lu-ray/305369/ Gentle Giant's 1975 album Free Hand was just released on Blu-ray, $20 in the US, featuring brand new 2021 Atmos mix from Steven Wilson along with new 5.1 and 2.0 mixes, flat transfer of the original 1975 Quad and stereo mixes from original analogue tape, etc etc https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/Gentl...lu-ray/295424/ The Pineapple Thief released a new album just before covid and weren't able to tour it, so they released a live performance mixed in Atmos by Bruce Soord that puts you in the middle of the stage they shot it on so Bruce, singing in the middle, is placed in the centre of the room vs the front soundstage or centre channel like a regular mix. Great price and value, includes four songs from the 2020 album presented as music videos with new Atmos mixes too. Drummer Gavin Harrison is the drummer from Porcupine Tree. For $15, it should be an easy blind buy. Recommend "In Exile" and "Our Mire" https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-P...lu-ray/298845/ |

Thank you for the info and links dobyblue.
Under my rock, I wasn’t aware of the Free Hand release. Ordered from Amazon. Looking forward to it. The other GG Blus are phenomenal. I’m amazed at the work that SW does on these surround releases and they’re typically pretty low priced compared to many other such offerings. Always down to support his work so that he’ll continue to provide immense aural enjoyment for us all. (Wow! Even has the quad mix! Fantastic set!) |

Hey Guys,
On the subject of Blu Ray -- jazz artist Bob James is going to be releasing his new album - Feel Like Making LIVE! in Jan 28th next year and they've made a load of different formats for the release, including Ultra HD Blu ray disc of the live recording and interview-- just pulling the below from his socials: "Available in five different physical formats: 180gram Limited Numbered orange double vinyl LP, SACD, MQA-CD, MQA-CD + blu-ray and Ultra HD Blu-ray. The hybrid SACD includes the DSD stereo and 5.1 surround sound for the ultimate sound quality experience. MQA is an award-winning technology that delivers the sound of the studio. MQA-CD plays on all CD players. When a conventional CD player is connected to an MQA-enabled device, the CD will reveal the original master quality. The live in-the-studio recording was stylishly filmed in 4K and recorded in high resolution audio and is available in Ultra HD blu-ray, which includes immersive sound with Dolby Atmos in Dolby TrueHD and Auro 3D. Bonus tracks and in-depth interviews are included. The music will also be available in uncompressed stereo at 96kHz / 24bit stereo formats." Thought I'd share in case you guys are on the look out for a good quality release to play. |

This is probably the single most intense surround mix I've ever heard, it's not gimmicky, makes fantastic use of the space and if you have the kind of subs that love sub-20Hz material they will get a real kick out of this one.
Fave tracks: Wuba Duba, Arthur Spark, Rush For Joe and Basic Avenue |

John Williams: The Berlin Concert, recorded in October 2021, releases on February 4.
The Deluxe Edition features 2 CDs and 2 Blu-rays (one video + audio, the other audio-only), both with Atmos. Here's the track listing from the CDs. (Presumably the BDs will be the same.) It's heavy on Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, and Star Wars, but there's additional gems like the Olympic fanfare, Far and Away suite, and Superman march that fill in some of the gaps from his concert with the Vienna Philharmonic.
