Not sure if I'd upgrade the whole set, but this and a handful of others (Virgin Spring, please) are no-brainers to upgrade.

Haven't had a chance to watch my BFI copy but it'll be interesting to see comparions.

I feel bad for the Criterion super collectors. I have a feeling at least 50% of them will get UHD releases.

Unless I'm reading this wrong, the Criterion doesn't have any HDR whereas the BFI UHD I imported a while back has Dolby Vision.

Wonderful! Will this be the same transfer as the BFI's 4k disk? If so that's excellent, though I certainly hope the subtitles will be better.

Yeah, that's strange. I wonder why that might be.

No idea. On April's releases, 2 of the 3 UHDs(The Seventh Seal, Triangle of Sadness) have no HDR.

I hope this isn't a new trend with Criterion.

They're losing out to international competitors now that these aren't getting HDR when international competitors already have or will have HDR.

Hopefully it's an oversight on the website, rather than both discs being SDR. I wish they would directly mention that 4K SDR discs are SDR, rather than simply not mentioning HDR and leaving it to us to make the inference.

If we bully them enough, maybe they might change their minds and add HDR and Dolby Vision like Uncut Gems or what MVD recently decided to do with Rain Man.

Exactly. I already have the BFI UHD and would consider Criterion's UHD. But not if it's missing HDR and DV.

I thought Uncut Gems was initially a Blu-Ray only, until they later added a 4K edition? I'm pretty sure the 4K was announced with Dolby Vision from the outset.

Yeah it was announced only Blu-ray and enough people complained that they decided to release the 4K too.

You do realize they have this stuff planned out ahead of time and it was already decided, right? It was "secret" until their 4k reveal. Complaining didn't do anything. lmao

If it's on the site, then it's true. This won't have DoVi, nor will ToS. It is what it is.
