Although this is a VEI release (and no disrespect to them, they do mean well), the studio they sublicensed from is going to be involved, so that's a good sign.

Judging by the first attempt I'm setting my expectations r-e-a-l low.

It's probably gonna look like the hottest of garbage, but the DVD sets are ancient and enormous, so why not I guess.

Probably sourced from VHS tapes found in Peter Davis’ basement when his hot water boiler broke. Upscaled by a neighbor’s kid using a vcr bought at Goodwill and whatever upscaling software was state of the art for Windows XP.

Or maybe they’ll look better than the DVDs this time.

But who would place a bet on that?

That said I look forward to screenshots and reviews.

The Amazon reviews of VEI’s budget DVD reissue of this title are horrible.

Video quality so bad that there is an on-screen disclaimer. And cropped from 4:3 to 16:9.

The BluRay will likely be the same. VEI appears to be a budget label.

Yeah, I suspect these will be upscales of those ugly, ugly 16:9 crops. Would love to be proven otherwise, but I strongly doubt it.

After the previous failures at bringing this to Blu Ray and the recent atrocity of a DVD from VEI I will not even consider buying this until I've read several reviews. Even upscaled this series could look great...but they just keep cropping it and adding DNR!

Fingers crossed they get it right this time.

I'd really suggest holding off until there's some indication of whether this is a ground-up rebuild from the original elements. The previous blus of seasons 1-3 were lousy upconverts from SD.

The first set was 16x9, the second release is 4x3.

Ah, seems VEI pulled another stunt like with their "The Invisible Man" set. Initially only offering a cropped version until they started offering it in its OAR as well.
