I know another thread announced this title along with a couple others, but this title deserves it's OWN thread.
Paramount is releasing Cecil B. DeMille's 1956 biblical epic with an all-new restoration and will come out both in a regular and a BD/DVD gift set. The BD/DVD will also contain the silent version from 1923. I for one will be getting this one FIRST DAY. ![]() The Ten Commandments Blu-ray The Ten Commandments Blu-ray Gift Set ![]() The Ten Commandments Blu-ray Review Last edited by Deciazulado; 03-11-2011 at 06:08 AM. |

Thanks Onewayfilms, this movie DOES deserve it's own thread. I am most excited about this one. I have seen a few minutes of this restoration and it blew me away, I never expected this quality. It was done from a 6k brand new remastered transfer. There was no sound on the clips I saw so I can't comment on the sound. But the picture is gorgeous.
I am getting the bigger set, I want that documentary and this will sit nicely alongside my Gone with the Wind, Wizard of Oz and Sound of Music boxes. Only the best get that shelf hehe.......I am being very picky on boxes, but this is one that there is no question on, it's a must have. This is in my opinion one of the best classics of all time. It still amazes me that it did not win a best picture Oscar. |

lol realistically haha. I'd LOVE Jaws and SL..heck, throw in Jurassic Park as well. Let's just Spielberg isn't coming through with BD owners. PT&A is another one on my list..I'm surprised we didn't get that around Thanksgiving.

Was looking on IMDB, there were hundreds of uncredited roles in this film, some of them big "names"
just a few well known people I noticed: Herb Alpert Robert Vaughn Richard Farnsworth I would love to know what a film like that would cost in today's dollars! |

Except you then lose out on the 1923 version on BD. They should just release a 3-disc BD version instead.

As for star power, this film would cost quite a bit to duplicate using today's stars of the calibur of Ten Commandments. It would still pale in comparison to trying to recreate It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World in terms of star power, though. That film had an A-list as long as could be imagined. |
