looks like the low tier Players are starting to come out, it looks like this is a Walmart exclusive, no price on the web site, but I did see one in the store also no price.

Only one HDMI means if you use an older receiver non HDMI 2.0 compliant you are not going to be able to use together with the tv without some external device. It also has an exhaust fan which might indicate that on top of running hot it might get more dust inside that can cover the laser and cause reading problems. |

This is great news! Not the player of course, its probably garbage, but that type of price point this early on into 4k is really going to help convince people to make the switch the next time they need a new player. And we need all the buyers we can right now to keep this new format, and physical media in general alive!

Been running this little 4K player for about a week now. It's made by Funai which also makes two identical models for Phillips and Magnavox. Gotta say, for $98CDN, it has a spectacular picture and has operated flawlessly (so far). It's easy to setup and operate. The remote is tiny and a prime candidate to disappear or get eaten by the family dog. But overall, can't complain for the price.

One major issue I have with this player is the Cinavia Copyright protection built in the system, even with legitimate copies purchased in store. Just bought this player in December after my Samsung Blu-ray died. Called Sanyo and got nowhere. Ready to chuck this one out and purchase a different make, one that will work.

Isn't this player the same as the Magnavox player?

Four year update. This little POS has played every disc I've thrown at it and has never skipped a beat whereas my much pricier Sony X800m2 has developed a freezing issue that is driving me nuts. The Sanyo may not have Dolby Vision, but I don't notice much difference between DV and HDR10. Reliability-wise, this little Sanyo has paid for itself.

This was selling for $94 at one point at Walmart. For a UHD player you really got nothing to lose at that price. Glad yours is still working fine. I have always liked Sanyo they make good products. If you rearrange the letters you can call it ASONY.
![]() As for the X800M2 it is the better disc player but I don't think the mainboard inside cools properly. |

That's funny that you mentioned that about the Cinavia Copyright protection being built In because others are saying that none of the 4K discs will even work at all In the player. In fact when people tried just tried playing a basic 4K disc all they got was a black screen with the Sanyo logo on It and it wouldn't even play the movie at all. The fact that It only costs $94 tells me that this is cheaply made and you probably should just avoid buying it. I would stick with name brands like LG, Sony or Panasonic.
