Default Tales of the Shire

New game from Private Division and Weta Workshop, not quite sure what kind of game it will be. The original announcement was a while ago, but I don't see a thread on this.

The Shire is where the Hobbits live. A mostly safe landscape, other than a grumpy farmer near the border to watch out for. "A heart-warming tale" sounds like a more peaceful version of Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, where you don't venture beyond the Shire borders, unlike what Frodo and Samwise had to do in LOTR.

I would 100% be for a game where you just wander around The Shire and basically do absolutely nothing of consequence. Just pure, relaxing exploration with some neat environments and treasures to find, and casual interactions with other Hobbits. Some light farming and garden-tending but without any time-wasting busy work. And for the love of all things good in this world--no crafting.

Growing crops sounds like it could be a big part of it, as that is what some Hobbits do.

If it's in 3rd person view, and you can pick Frodo, or Bilbo, or create your own Hobbit, and then wander freely, the Shire is actually a really big landscape to explore and there are some minor dangers like probably some wolves, spiders, ants and things like that. I was surprised in the book that Trolls didn't wander into the land more often. The Ring Wraith found its way into Shire in Fellowship of the Rings. And of course Gollum was originally from the Shire years ago, when he was Smeagol.

Was just about to comment that it seems like that's what they kay use for inspiration.

Personally i never played Animal Crossing, but it's a really popular game it seems, so makes sense they would try make a multipaltform version of that using a well known IP but Lord of the Rings almost seems to be a negative to me, even if using the Hobbits.

I'm all for a fully-explorable Shire, but the actual size of that place is pretty damn big, with mostly empty and unsettled space, so I can't see a game that covers it being successful, unless it's confined to the area with the few Hobbit settlements and farms, with roads in-between.
