Default Going Nuclear on Blu-Ray Storage

I have a LOT of blu-rays and DVDs- many, many thousands. In the DVD era I jettisoned the cases and got those metallic suitcases and sleeves. I filled three of those cases and still had much more and gave up. It was too heavy to be practical. I gave up for a while. Now I find myself with a living room piled high with movies and TV shows. It's filling shelves, overflowing onto every table and chair, and stacked a couple of feet high on the floor. I can't move anymore and finding specific disks is impossible.

I ordered those snap together CD shoeboxes and sleeves from Amazon, and this weekend I spent all day shucking cases into the trash. (I save all the papers and junk the plastic cases.) I'm sorting them by genre, sub genre and sub sub genre. I started by filling three huge plastic bins with horror blu-rays. It filled my recycle bin with plastic cases and all fit into two shoeboxes. There's still one or two big bins of horror left to do and I haven't even made a dent on clearing the room yet... TV shows appears to be twice that much. Drama, music, comedy... it's going to take me months to get through all of them, but I really have no choice. I'm estimating I'll end up with around 40-50 shoeboxes of disks.

Has anyone else hit this point in collecting? Any advice?
