Has anyone seen/tried the ROKiT IO PRO 3D? It has a glasses free 5.99inch screen at 2160×1080 resolution.
It comes with its own app store with licensed content including Aircraft Carrier 3d which I don't believe received a disc release. https://wi-images.condecdn.net/image.../f/rokit-5.jpg |

I picked one of these up. The 3d is 'ok'. It's not blu ray quality and isn't going to convert anyone, its also limited solely to the Rokflix apps. Everything else is 2d.
The size of the screen counts against it, you need the precise angle to view and you must download content in 10min long compressed segments. Much of the content is also terrible. BUT it's a new 3d screen in 2019 and it's glasses free. The 3d Netflix-style service is a good idea and it's the only way to access some content such as the aircraft carrier doc. N-Wave are also supporting it with some shorts - with a promise of more to come. It's also a half decent phone. |

COOL. I just discovered this phone by adding a "3D display" topic to my Apple News+ feed. I need to pick up one of these phones. The Red 3D phones got horrible reviews and were 5 times the cost of Rokit phones. My old HTC Evo 3D phone would get gasps of amazement from anyone I showed it to. These can't be any worse. The 3D community should be supporting companies like Rokit. They must be doing very little advertising. I'm surprised I found them.
I was thinking of getting an iPhone XR or 11 for the depth information, for use in creating holographic images in the Looking Glass display. It sounds like the Rokit gets similar depth info to create 3D images. |

Okay, bought this phone (ROKiT Pro 3D) on Amazon. Avoid... unless you want to experiment with it as a 3D movie (via sideloading) viewer. As a 3D camera, it's terrible. It requires taking portrait mode photos, but you can only view those photos in landscape mode, so the images are very small when viewing. And I really could not see any detectable 3D in the photos I took. Maybe because the two cameras are like 1/8" apart? Oh—and you could not see any 3D while using the camera. Only in "photo view" (afterwards) mode. You do have the option to take 3D photos in a mode that requires you to move the camera during exposure(s), which did have more of a 3D result. I didn't spend that much time on it before realizing this was kind of a dud. Their own 3D movie offerings were quite weak. I could see getting one to experiment with, but the orientation problem proved to be a bummer to me. Also, for general use, the screen was pretty hard to look at. I wish Apple would eventually be the company that perfects 3D (although they'd probably call it something else, with the negative connotations "3D" has nowadays), because they'd make sure usability was top-notch and feature-rich. I started getting the sense that ROKiT was selling a product that had been in development since about 2010 because it was not any more advanced really than my 2011 HTC Evo 3D. I think the old HTC Evo 3D phone was much better. I'll stick to that and my Fuji 3D camera.

I'm pretty much in agreement with your evaluation except for the one thing that I found that was amazing about the 3D rendering of the Rokit 3D Pro screen. The 1080P 3D videos RokFlix 3D provides have perfect negative parallax ![]() Does the Evo 3D have Pop-outs that look like the Rokit's? My Fuji 3D camera, does not render 3D negative parallax at all like the 2019 Rokit 3D screen. And I've been told by people that have seen the early 3D glassless televisions that negative parallax is extremely compromised for glass-free 3D technology. Not so! with this new Rokit IO Pro screen. ![]() The first thing that astounded me was seeing a magician's arm & hand sticking out of the screen, holding two silver dollar coins - in my face! The 2019s 3D screen is absolutely amazing! ![]() Negative Paralax size.jpg RokFlix 3D size.jpg |

You have some good points about the resolution and quality of the actual 3D effects. I could see using the ROKiT as a screen for watching 3D movies. I'll play around with it some more.

I bought this phone about six months ago for cheap. The ROKiT apps and services seems to be discontinued, to no surprise. The scary thing is, I could without a problem type in my debit card details when registering for my free three months, but got no further steps after that and had no means to delete the information. Thankfully, they haven't charged my card.
On the upside, they included a standalone 3D-viewer app on the phone for 3D movies and pictures. This app supports most types of 3D including SBS and OU, but not frame packing. I just bought the IO Pro 3D to have a spare phone and to check out the glasses-free 3D technology. It has been rarely used and mostly only to watch short video clips and trailers downloaded from Youtube. To summarise, I can understand why 3D phones never became as popular as some hoped they would be. You need to hold the phone in a very specific angle to see the 3D effect and 3D just works better on a larger screen. The 3D consists primarily of depth and not much pop-out. It's still fun and fascinating to watch some strong 3D material on this device, like the trailer for Black Widow. If someone ever releases a 3D phone again I hope they go the same route as with the New Nintendo 3DS which incorporated face tracking to let the user see the 3D effect from several angles. |
