It's a wonderfully weird book. But not surprising from Zahler. He's 3 for 3 when it comes to films for me. And his prose is great.

A three hour, black & white, Dickensian Elephant Man-style puppet movie? That's a big swing.

Zahler's filmography & the involvement of The Jim Henson Company make this quite intriguing though.

I love Zahler's films, so count me in. On a related note, has anyone here read his novels? If so, any standout ones you'd recommend?

His westerns are violent and dark but definitely worth a read.

Sidebar: Where would you rank Dragged Across Concrete folks? I somehow still haven't seen it yet. Loved both Bone Tomahawk and Brawl in Cell Block 99 though.

It's a 90 minute movie dragged out (pun intended) to an almost interminable 158 minutes. There's probably a great film in there somewhere, but it's so padded & full of random, irrelevant tangents it just felt like an overindulgent mess to me. Needed a better editor.
