Default Best Don Bluth Movie?

Which of these films do you consider the best from this underrated animation director?

NOTE: You are allowed to choose more than one film.

I should revisit them!
When I was a child it was An American Tail and Land Before Time.
Nimh still gives me the creeps.

I went with An American Tail, but Secret of Nimh, All Dogs Go To Heaven, Anastasia and Titan AE are all pretty good too.

I'll have to do some revisiting myself.

Did recently see The Secret of NIMH and The Land Before Time. I'm pretty pleased with how well they hold up.

I went with NIMH and American Tail personally.

So far, the only Bluth film I have not yet seen is Titan A.E.

Pebble and the Penguin is a guilty pleasure for me.

The Land Before Time elicits much emotion. Thats my pick.

I adore Titan A.E as well.

The Secret of Nihm for me too. I’d vote, but the forum is hit or miss on Safari

NIMH for me. Those rates scared the heck out of me as a kid.

Both NIMH and The Land Before Time are childhood classics, but I'll have to go with the latter.

No contest:

The only time he managed to marry the best classic animation style to genuinely strong storytelling, the latter his persistent Achilles heel (more like a peg leg in Rock-a-Doodle).

I rewatched some Don Bluth films lately and to be honest I was never a fan of him. I think The Secret of NIMH and An American Tail are decent, I like that they have a dark tone, but then he puts cute rodents acting childishly which completely ruins it, and I guess the plot could have been a little bit more refined in both films.

What's astounding though is that the same man who made those films, eventually made Thumbelina. I have a feeling that he was so disinterested in making that film and the only reason he did was a financial reason. It also feels like he didn't hold fairytale heroines in high regard, which was translated in Thumbelina herself, which is the most insipid heroine in any animated movie. He basically wanted to make a Disney Renaissance movie without understanding what made those movies great.

He eventually learned his lesson with Anastasia, but even that film isn't on the same level as the Disney films of that time. I'd say it could also have been as decent as NIMH and American Tail, but Rasputin completely sabotaged it, I also don't like the way he animated people, too much reliance on rotoscoping, which is very distracting.

Of what I've seen I'd say American Tail or Land Before Time. Those are the two I saw when I was younger that stuck with me. I know saw All Dogs Go to Heaven, but I barely remember it now.

Anastasia and Titan AE I was a bit older when they came out. Thought Anastasia was pretty good and Titan AE was just ok.

I've never seen the rest. Going to have to change that and see Secret of Nimh soon. Been meaning to.

Secret of Nimh without a doubt. Woulda been an Oscar contender if they had an animated category in the 80's.
