Moll Flanders (1996) - Blu-ray Forum

Sandpiper Pictures will be releasing the period drama Moll Flanders (1996), starring Robin Wright, and Morgan Freeman, on Blu-ray on December 13th.

This movie has been a long time dvd only favorite. I’m glad to see it on Blu-ray. I Really hope BD gives it the PQ upgrade it deserves. If you like period piece films this is a really great story. Doesn’t seem to be getting any love on the forum.

I agree that it's a lost gem. It tries and succeeds on numerous levels. Story, acting, score, and visuals are first rate. I've had the soundtrack also since shortly after the film release. It's one that I've had (or did have) in my DVD collection so I'm also glad to see a BD release. I do see that this is also available as part of Amazon Prime, but not reviewed to see what rez or audio specs the stream has. I'm sure I'll pick this up regardless unless it has lossy audio or boiled down to a 2.0 mix or something odd.

If I get it, I'll share here but also in a review and update the specs that may still be missing.

UPDATE: I watched about 30 minutes of the Amazon Prime stream and the picture quality is top notch, excellent. The sound is good but, was I a feared, presented in 2.0, which is ok I guess, since it's not an action extravaganza or anything.

Finally on bluray! I was really hoping there would be a review of if up on this site, but perhaps it's on the list. I'm ordering it now, so I'll let you know when it arrives/ I watch it.
