Way to many crap movies coming to 4K out of everything Universal could of picked to release it is this really. How about Universal put some money into doing 4K treatment of Martin Scorsese - CASINO

It's unlikely that this gets a new 4K master.

Movie is kinda "ewwy" but it has bright vibrant colors already, so with the HDR this should look great if Universal doesn't screw it up like the Warcraft UHD. Those "shredder" scenes are pretty rad and the action is awesome in this, but it still is a pretty bad movie.

The studio would have to go back and re-comp every uprezzed-to-4k visual effects shot (there are a ton of them in Battleship) and insert them into re-scanned at 4k 35mm OCN footage.
The only movie on UHD Blu-ray so far where a studio has gone to that much effort to create a brand new true 4k resolution master is Ridley Scott's The Martian. And that was easier to do because the raw camera footage was digital and already at 6k and 4k. In non-linear editors and SFX suites you can swap the proxy files and then re-comp. Not so easy to do in the case of Battleship and that movie was a flop. |

Ohh, I must have misread. I thought you were speaking about the original DI from 2012. While extremely unlikely they would have made a 4K DI, they technically could have, they just chose to make it 2K.
