Farming plants on Mars for 15 mins. The movie is 141 mins + 15 mins = 156 mins = 2 hours 36 mins.

Perfect timing on UltraHD 4K. Woohoo!

This has to set the record for double-dip rip-off (3 months since initial release) and I'm probably dumb enough to bite...but only if it has an immersive soundtrack.

My body is ready. Will keep my steelbook for the 3D version, and get this for the UHD extended cut.

Glad I never upgraded from my 3D BD, but honestly, if I were to buy it, it would be when it was value priced. I'm done constantly double dipping movies.

Glad I never bought this on BD or UHD. I'm all in for the extended version.

4K UHD is 4x the pixels, double the speed dip. It's in the specs.

Seriously? I held off on the Blu-ray for UHD and in less than three months an extended cut is released?

The Digital Bits had reported on a special edition of "The Martian" coming later this year, so I held off on the recent releases. I'll pick this one up sometime in the future...

Would this one have the 3-D Blu-ray included?

He did report that, but I think it was unclear if the extended edition would be uhd or not.

Well I only paid $18 for my UHD of The Martian and watched it twice already. So I don't mind picking this up again for the extended scenes.

Correct, but I knew there was a possibility, and I wasn't in any hurry, so I waited, and I'm glad I did.

I only have the original 3D/blu-ray combo, so the extended cut being available on a UHD disc will be a good incentive for a double dip in the future.

I'm almost 100% certain it won't.

I think they finally got the 100GB Triple Layer production under control/made it cost effective. Would explain the late release date. As The Martian sold very good on this new medium, makes sense to release it again in an Extended Edition.

If it releases on a Dual Layer 66GB disc it's simply a rip-off.

(Note the '3 discs' in the description...)
