Wow, have been eying the UK Studio Canal release for a bit. Love the movie. I see the old French release has English subtitles (as well as SC's general track record), so maybe a good possibility this 4K has them as well? I hope.

Well this might be the most unexpected upgrade Studio Canal have announced so far but I'm not complaining!

I only finally watched the blu-ray the other month and that's a great transfer and I would eventually upgrade if a UK release is forthcoming or the French one is English-friendly.

The German release (listed with German and French audio) is also stating German, English and French subs at jpc, so I guess it will be a German/French release that also includes English subs:

Had the French one in the mail today...

Digi with booklet. Disc doesn't work on the PC yet, but just quickly checked/confirmed the basics via player: Comes with German, French and English menu, German and French audio and German, French and English subs.

Both. 23 pages total with 7 pages text (by Noel Herpe), 1 page restauration credits, 4 pages cast/crew and 1 page synopsis - the rest being photos and the front page (which mirrors the front art with title only).

PQ looks very good at first glance.

Doesn't have HDR though!
I'm not complaining, but HDR10 was mentioned in all three database entries on this site.

Great news! I wasn’t expecting to see this film on 4K, to be honest. Hopefully SC will release “The Third Man” on 4K too, as their latest blu-ray already comes from a 4K master.
