Default Blu-ray Drive Recommendation for Mac (macOS Sequoia) - Replacing ASUS BW-16D1X-U

I'm looking for recommendations for a reliable external Blu-ray drive for my iMac, primarily for ripping Blu-rays (extracting clips, etc.).

I've just gone through a lengthy process with an ASUS BW-16D1X-U. For months, I experienced very slow disc recognition with various Blu-ray discs (including newer Warner Archive releases and other standard Blu-rays).

Now I'm in the market for a new drive and want to make a more informed choice to avoid similar frustrations.

I'd be grateful for specific brand and model recommendations from other Mac users who are successfully and reliably ripping Blu-rays on recent macOS versions. What drives have you found to be workhorses? Are there any particular models known for good Mac compatibility and ripping performance that you'd suggest I look into, or any I should definitely avoid based on your experiences?

Thanks in advance for your help and insights!
