Interesting that The Boy and The Beast wasn't first, seems like being the most recent movie would mean it probably needed less work.

I guess they haven't figured out when she's going to leap through time yet.

I do like all these films, so it's heartening to see them receive a 4K release. Hopefully the restoration is worthy of the extra resolution.

So considering how The Girl Who Leapt Through Time looks here, it seems that there won't really be a reason to replace my old Selecta Vision (re-labelled Manga UK) Blu-ray after the new one comes out.
I don't even know what I was expecting, to be honest, but I figured that after so long something would be done to try to improve on such a soft-looking image.

Absolutely. Despite also being a 720p native film, the UHD of Summer Wars is a revelation simply because the lab who handled the upscale went back to the original master and rescaled it in a much, much cleaner way than was done back in the day. It is still a very soft film, but now there's an actual clarity and quality to the film which was missing on every prior release due to properly scaled line art. I would expect TGWLTT and Wolf Children to be equally as revelatory.

I don't know about Christmas Eve, but December would match with the time between Summer Wars and Wolf Children.

December 24th is a Wednesday, Amazon is almost certainly showing a temporary arrival date at the moment and we'll likely hear more from GKIDS/Shout in the coming months

Mine didn't even say the 24th, it said the 29th.

But 24th and 26th have been special release dates in the past. So has Friday and Saturdays.

I'll probably skip this one, it's not my favorite from Hosoda and i already have the blu-ray. I did however purchase the new Summer Wars 4K Steelbook and I've also got Wolf Children on pre-order. If The Boy and the Beast gets a 4K steelbook i'll definitely get that one too
