Default The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles

I've been pondering on buying these gems on dvd for a while already. However, now that Paramount is now supporting Blu-Ray once more, when can we expect these to come out???? I really hope they release very soon..........

I've been netflixing these. They are still alot of fun. Was going to pick them up a few weeks back when BB had them for $50 a piece but, thought that was still to much. Blu-ray would be interesting for these as there are tons of documentaries but, I think they'd still be way to expensive to purchase.

You don't think the edits are stored anywhere on film? I feel sure that they made a high definition master when they prepared them for DVD. Doesn't pretty much everyone do that now if they are starting from a film source?

BTW, I've never seen any of these. Are they faithful to the tone and feel of the films? Spielberg isn't involved at all is he?

Not quite the same as the film. It's more about Indy growing up and all the famous people he meets and things he learns. To some far stretched degree, you could say they are very very very semi-educational but not really. I'm in the first boxset which is all from when he was a little boy. Thus far he has met Lawrence of Arabia, Norman Rockwell, and Puccini for example...can't say for the later episodes as though i've seen them back when originally on, I can't remember.

Really...........huh? I stand corrected.

Had I known that, I wouldn't have bought these season sets.

The ones where he is a teenager are much better IMO because he is old enough at that point to actually DO things.

Do you still think Young Indiana Jones has good chances to ever be released on Blu-ray someday in the future?

I hope it it the market before the original trilogy of movies on Blu-ray...

bump,

i guess its time to bump this back into the fold, with the release of the 4 features, i wonder if George and CBS will get around to to releasing this on Blu as well. Was filmed, not video taped, so it would harvest a great picture, so many talented people worked on this series, i hope that its anouncement is one of the surprises in the feature film set.

no its not going to be as big as ST Remastered, but i think it would do well

Really? As far as I remember, all the episodes were edited using Lucasfilm's EditDroid - a laserdisc based system.

I could be wrong as I would like to own these on blu-ray. Maybe this time around they will put some documentaries on the making of the series on the discs.

Thread back from the dead.

I've been holding off on buying the DVD's for awhile now hoping this series will come to blu, seems unlikely at this point though.

With the recent news about Indy 5, I think I'll finally buy the DVD sets... They are $25 CAD on amazon, it's a good deal after all!

If we ever do get them on Blu, it'd be nice if they added back in the old Indiana segments, with the eyepatched George Hall. Even if not in the episodes, then as extras on the discs.

Do you think we'll ever get these uncut? I miss eyepatch Indy in the 1990s with a grown daughter and kids of her own, but they also did some really weird editing to smoosh stories together.

I watched an "episode" recently (either on Amazon Prime or Netflix) and there was a really awkward transition from one story to the next. It went from a very young Corey Carrier to a Corey Carrier who was clearly a year or two older. There was some narration to assist the transition, but it didn't help at all.

I understand Lucasfilm packaged these up for schoolroom viewing some years ago, but ye gods, can we get some narrative logic restored? Just preserve the way each episode aired on TV.
