Ill get this movie, but many of this "genre" are so low budget, I dont think the studios would even waste the time to do it....

Boyz N the Hood (John Singleton)
Blood In Blood Out aka Bound by Honor
Clockers (Spike Lee) (maybe part of a SL collection)

Are the 3 most likely to get the treatment if any of them do.....

Even though I did enjoy Fresh, I dont think it has the "power" that the others do...Menace II Society is just too low budget ...

The funny thing is Ive seen all the ones you listed plus some, really though, until there is more of a hold on the market I dont think youll see movies like these in anytime soon.

I think its great though that they are trying to diversify the content on Blu-ray. I think this is something that is important to do, so that there is a broader audience buying movies and players....

...um, they wasted the time for XXX, Scooby Doo, The Marine, Jane Austin Book Club, Suburban Girl ...etc

But they wouldn't find the time for actual good movies??

...thanks for sharing your enthusiasm with me!

Hey crackin' you forgot to mention Juice. That's sort of a classic of this genre as well. But yeah, I'll take Boyz, Clockers and Blood in Blood Out any day.

For some reason I really want to mention "Exit Wounds" and "Cradle to the Grave."

Nothing on Belly, of course, but DMX used to be everywhere.

crakckin,

As we all know everyone has their idea of a "good" movie. The movies you listed above are targeted towards a different audience then the ones in the OP...
You may think they wasted their time, but by releasing XXX they were going after the action crowd, Scooby Doo Family\Kids, The Marine WWE\Action fans, Jane Austin Book Club "older" women? Not sure about Suburban Girl though..I can't see which market they are trying to target with almost every release..

The more diversity the better, I dont knock a studio for releasing a certain movie if I dont like it, you would hope the studios are trying to be diverse in their release. The more new customers we can bring on the better for the format overall....

Would I mind if these were brought to Blu-ray? no not at all, I jsut dont think the studios see many of them as viable unless they can "cross over". I believe the 3 I listed are the most likely though to be released sooner rather than later as they have the "broadest appeal"...

The Wire was never shot in HD so it wont be out ...The director kept it SD throughout the entire series to keep the look consistent over all of the 5 seasons. HBO just has an excellent line doubling technique that makes the SD look very nice..
