Taiwan The Second Sight 3D Blu-ray (2013) [Region Free TBC]

Has anyone seen this Asian horror film? It's a supernatural horror film about a man who has the ability to other people's death before it happens. From What I see this movie was filmed in 3D it's listed at number #1 on an IMDB list of best Thai 3D films ever, other than the trailer I watched there is no download available of this movie & no streaming apps it is available on this movie has been available on eBay for a while so idk if it's worth getting or not.

Yes, this movie has great 3D—just like 3 AM: Parts 1 and 2 and 407 Dark Flight, from a bygone era of native productions. That’s probably my IMDB list though, so you’re really not getting any new information from this post.

Is it worth getting? I don’t know your financial situation, the going rate on eBay, or what you value from a film, so I can’t make that decision for you. I enjoyed the story in The Second Sight best out of the handful of Thai 3D movies, but it’s still like watching a low-budget J-horror ghost story. Go in with low expectations and it may surprise you. I don’t think the 3D could disappoint.

3 AM 1 and 2 are about on the same level as Second Sight for me. 407 Dark Flight is a notch below because the 3D is good, but I couldn’t stand the story. The Protector 2 is an abomination of a bad conversion and terrible film. But as soon as I place any negative labels, people will come to defend those titles as gems. It’s always best to just see the films for yourself. That way you can form your own opinion and join the discussion.

It's really cheap right now luckily and the list is by Whittleboy615, will need to check out those other titles as well.

Almost all Hong Kong Blu-ray 3Ds are out of print. Once legit retailers run out of stock, the titles will sky rocket to second-hand scalper prices. If there are any available that you think you might want to own in the future, I’d snap them up now. The whole format is trending in this direction.

Hadn’t heard of this but it sounds great and I just snagged it off eBay — thanks guys! This part of the forum is a goldmine of 3-D hot tips, I started haunting it way too late unfortunately and missed out on a few gems, but man, I’ve also picked up so many amazing stereoscopic obscurities that I can’t complain too loudly.

I just won this one and The Child's Eye in 3D, The Child's Eye I saw in 2D last year I remember think the visual effects and story being good for what it was it was like walking through a haunted house. I really look forward to seeing these both in 3D.

My Second Sight 3D the disk is forked! At least when I try to rip with MakeMKV. It errors out and cuts the last 15 mins of the film.

My disc is also unreadable, sadly. I ordered it from Buyoyo; I'll see if I can get a refund and try to find a copy elsewhere...

Sounds like this one is a rotter, I will check my copy later.

Yep, mine starts glitching and freezes about the hour and twelve minute mark, so that tracks with what was said above, cutting out the last quarter hour of the film. I hadn’t watched mine all the way through previously. I don’t think this is gradual disc rot/failure, I think the pressing was from a faulty master and that they’re all borked in the same fashion. Great.

I tried watching this last year. It has some gonzo 3D popouts, more wild than scary. But the middle stretch was so boring I fell asleep. Never made it to the finale, will check if my copy's busted too.

I've tested three sealed copies now and all are bad to varying degrees around the middle of the disc surface. Since the errors are not totally identical there might be a few lucky people out there with copies that pass hash checks in validation software like MakeMKV because they were from a different batch or got lucky (similar to the Always: Sunset on Third Street '64 problem) - it's a long shot, but if so please let me know as I am still interested in checking the movie out.

If I end up with a ton of free time at some point, I might try a three-way binary comparison to see if any of the missing portions are salvageable. I had enough free RAM on my pc to do a two-way compare and noticed differences but I would need to investigate further as I haven't tried that crazy of a method to salvage a bad disc before.

Such a shame. I really wish that a western label would pick up the rights to a bunch of these Asian 3-D flicks and put them out in nice editions.

I bought my copy from Buyoyo back in 2021. Seems like it must have ripped properly back then, haven't watched it yet.

3d can be frustrating at times. Trying to get back into 3d watching after a couple years off ordered a bunch of movies from Turbine. Mission Impossible Fallout failed to rip, a few scratches on the disk. I was going to check if I can play it back on my PS3 in which case I don't need to order it again but the PS3 doesn't even boot up anymore, seems like a corruped file system. My other bluray player that does region free works but I can't figure out why the sound isn't working. It's not supposed to be this hard.

If your disc is scratched Turbine ought to replace it, you shouldn't need to order it again.

I feel like I dodged a bullet.

My copy of Second Sight 3D (HK Deltamac) played without issues. After retiring my tower, I no longer have a computer blu-ray player/recorder, but I am going to hit up a friend ASAP to make a backup for me.

Peace
