Default Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag Remake - Rumour (TBA)

Quote:
Ubisoft is doubling down on its most popular franchises, including Assassin’s Creed. Kotaku has learned that strategy now includes a remake of Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, the 18th-century pirate fantasy period piece, and one of the more fondly remembered entries in the series. It’s what many fans have asked for every time they see a new trailer for Skull and Bones, Ubisoft’s other pirate game long trapped in development hell.

According to two sources familiar with the plans who asked not to be named because they were not authorized to discuss them, a remake of the 2013 cross-gen PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 game is still in its earliest stages and will not be complete for at least a few years. A team at Ubisoft Singapore, one of the studios that has led development on the Assassin’s Creed franchise’s evolving ocean tech, will be heavily involved in helping to modernize the Caribbean-based sailing game.

Why do I feel they’re gonna cancel skull and bones and say they turned it into black flag remake.

I've been saying they should really just cut their losses and do AC4 remake. At this point, it's probably kinder to just scrap S&B

Damn hard to believe it's been 10 years since AC4: Black Flag released, and I still haven't gotten around to playing it yet.

Even if this remake rumor ends up being real, I'll still play thru the original game and it's DLC first.

I'd welcome that actually, long as they don't mess with Black Flag's story or characters.

Easily my favorite AC game for the sea exploration and combat but it's also one I've never been able to replay because I can't stomach the terrible land missions. I hope they take this opportunity to cut out the tedious eavesdropping missions.

Black Flag, the water looked great in that game. You have to really like the pirates and wooden boat theme era, but it was a unique take on AC.

If they were going to remake a AC no matter what at least they chose the correct game to remake.

AC4 didn't need a remake tbh. If they had the opportunity to do a sequel for Edward Kenway, that could have worked just as well.

My guess is similar to above that Ubishaft is basically going to cancel Cross and Bones when it amalgamates that project into AC4 remake by trying to use the brand name of AC to shift more units.

If i also had to be a bit of a cynic, they're going to try create a stand alone esque online mode for MP with microtransactions to milk the game as much as they can.

Bones & Skulls is due for Beta closed testing in August 2023 for that multi player online online game. I can't believe they didn't dump the project like Beyond Good & Evil 2, Prince of Persia Remake, and some others they abandoned.

I still cannot believe they're making a Star Wars open world game. Totally not expecting that but that is hopeful.

Avatar due December 2023, that looks okay, but lacks imagination to not let us play as the humans too, like the PS3 Avatar game.

This is welcome news. Black Flag used to be my favorite AC game to play during the summer, but I've been afraid what the graphics might look like since getting a 4K display and PS5, as I recall the graphics, while solid for PS3, seemed to have lost a few steps the last time I played the PS4 edition at 1080p.

This is supposed to be a remake and not a remaster. So, id assume they revamp the graphics entirely.

I'd happily play a Blackflag remake. It was already one of my favorites when it came out, could look really stunning on current gen hardware.
