Dune 2021 is getting a reissue in both regular and IMAX formats starting Friday, February 9th. Tickets are now on sale for Cineplex Theatres here in Canada. It is advertised as coming with a sneak peek of Dune: Part Two.
Dune 1984 will also get some kind of release on February 18 and 19th, but I believe that's only for select US regions. |

Both very unique versions of the same story. Dune '84 was better than I kept hearing, though they really tried to fit in as much as possible into a tiny space to tell the full story.
Dune '21 taking its time and very good IMO. I'm very surprised there was a sequel that was greenlit as the profits weren't going to normally fund it, so they must have had the funds already lined up for 2 films, which is cool. Have both on disc so I'll check out both on my 100" projector screen before the new film soon. |

Any ides which cut will be shown of the 1984 Dune?
Much to my astonishment, the official bluray cut does not include the iconic "The Spice Must Flow!" scene with the Emperor. |

I don't know about the different cuts as I haven't seen the movie, but AMC has the 1984 version listed at 2 hr 27 min.
If that doesn't line up with any of the cuts, note that Dune 2021 is listed as 10 minutes longer than its actual runtime, only because of the Dune: Part Two sneak preview. |

I feel like there’s a miscommunication with AMC, because Fathom Events website lists the runtime as 2 hours 17 minutes. Maybe AMC added in trailers for the Nü Dune movies or something else that’s the extra 10 minutes.

I caught it in dual-laser in 2021 and it was full 1.43:1 for the Imax scenes. The only possible exceptions to this are theaters like the TCL Chinese which, if I recall correctly, got a dual-laser upgrade but can’t really do 1.43:1 material without pillarboxing inside the 1.9:1 screen. They might do exactly that for all I know, but it just won’t be as immersive as a true original Imax theater. |

When Oppenheimer came out with additional IMAX screenings, my 70mm IMAX screen which showed it in 1:43:1 on its initial run, for some reason showed the re-screenings in 1:90:1.
That's why I ask. I don't know if limited runs like this, which include an additional sneak preview, will put together a 1:43:1 presentation, or if all theatres get the same digital file. I admit I'm sounding a little paranoid though. |

I can’t think of a good reason why that would’ve happened other than maybe your 70mm theater only having a single-laser or maybe even the old dual-xenon system, neither of which can do 1.43:1. Otherwise it shouldn’t be any trouble at all for Imax to send a different file to the theaters capable of showing the movie in its full aspect ratio. |

I wish they would release the Dune 4K with IMAX scenes restored. I would definitely double dip for that.

For anyone who's seen the 2021 movie re-release, does the Part Two preview play before or after the movie?

So do the ticket sales for these rereleases get added into these films original box office total or are kept separate? ‘84 rerelease I can see being kept separate as it’s a Fathom event and the tickets are steep for (at least in my area) a small regular theater. But the IMAX ticket prices for ‘21 are pretty much what they were 3 years ago. |

If it was 1.9:1, it was the tallest 1.9:1 I have ever seen. It was 1.43:1 |
